Super Mario 3D World Pushes Switch Sales Above 400,000 - Worldwide Hardware Estimates for Feb 7-13

The Nintendo Switch was the best-selling console with 406,992 units sold for the week ending February 13, according to VGChartz estimates. The Switch has now sold an estimated 79.38 million units lifetime.

The PlayStation 5 sold an estimated 214,903 units to bring its lifetime sales to 5.41 million units. The Xbox Series X|S sold 114,711 units to bring their lifetime sales to 3.64 million units.

I can almost say I am one of those new Series S/X sales. It wont arrive until March so it would be counted then.

I thought about getting one but I feel with the lack of new games that interest me I will just stick to my One X a couple more years. The Medium is the only game that I almost upgraded for but I just beat it on my PC instead even though it ran at 20fps during split screen parts.

Nintendo haters try to marginalize all the first party games as “ports” but don’t acknowledge how crazily well they sell or how good the meta-critics are, and how good the original game was, or how frequently they have released. Going by this place I can imagine that people without a switch would think the console had no games at all. When in reality, Hades was one of the best games that came out last year(the best, IMO), and the Nintendo first party games are awesome, selling incredibly well, plentiful, and most people who own a switch love them. People see this in the real world and the popularity spreads. If you stop looking at them as ports, and look at them as Nintendo first party games, you’ll realize they are still putting out a ton of stuff that is selling incredibly well. Also, they are keeping their games exclusive. A smart move, that Sony should probably follow. For people who have not played Mario Odyssey, that game is still new to them when they buy switch. It doesn’t matter how old it is, because they have never been able to play it. Thus, the switch is evergreen, without even a price drop yet.

Children, Mommy's, Grannies because of the pandemic. Its been a gold mine this covid for Nintendo combined with the fact switch is now the 3ds replacement its bound to sell loads but will never offer any next gen experiences or features

Well, Im just glad they aren’t porting their best exclusives to PC to make a quick buck, negating the need to actually buy the console. Come to think of it, I haven’t seen any articles about that Jim Ryan interview on here.

@zacfolder although I don't support Nintendo you are right though they are a proper console company that doesn't devalue themselfs, unlike what Sony is just starting to do

The sales will include the Switch Lite, which is the essential replacement handheld of the 3DS.

Everyone i seem to speak to, seems to want the switch. Nintendo have always done well console/handheld wise. They had a blip with the WiiU, but other than that they generally sell. Each iteration averages around 70-90 million at least.

Right on point. Those are combined sales of the switch and the portable version. In other Word not the same. I really dont understand why they are doing this. The lite version. Is a portable not home console.

Those games are still available to play though, and the library is still growing. I wouldn't recommend it as the only console to own, but any person who loves gaming is missing out on great games without a Switch.

I liked the WiiU. And the games were great. I would say more power to nintendo by releasing them to this big of an audience. I think the prices are a bit high, but if consumers pay them...I guess its justified

how many ports / remasters have we seen on other platforms? Why not give the best of the Wii U to a wider audience?

@NotoriousWhiz - Nintendoland wouldn't work very well I don't think though. Having that separate screen for the Wii U was kind of essential for some of the games.

It could work just like that pacman game Namco released. Most people on one switch, and one other person on a second switch. And you still only needed one cartridge / digital copy to make it work.

@NotoriousWhiz - yeah there are ways around it, but expecting another person to have their own switch sort of takes away from what the Wii U was. I'm happy without either of those games releasing on the Switch TBH.

That sounds like a lame ass excuse, I mean if value gaming you will enjoy it regalrdless of the system you are using, but if you have the prejudice of hardware power then by all means stay away from consoles and just stick to PC gaming since it's the ultimate form of playing games.

On my part I play games not pixels.
