Destructoid review: Castlevania Judgment

Destructoid writes:

"When I first got word that Konami was working on a Castlevania fighting game for the Wii, I was pretty sure it was going to suck. Then, when I was lucky enough to play the game at E3 08, I was sure it was going to suck. Playing is believing, after all, and playing Castlevania Judgment was about as fun as toothache. The controls were ridiculously imprecise, the graphics were ugly, and the gameplay consisted of nothing more that pure waggle.

That's right folks, I said pure waggle. If that doesn't make you squirm in your seats, I don't know what will.

So if the game is so bad, then why did I sign up for this review? Well, part of it has to do with the fact that the final build of the game is compatible with the GameCube or Classic Controllers, so it's got to play better than it did at E3. But more than that, I bought Castlevania Judgment because I love Castlevania, and I know that the current producer of the series, IGA, loves Castlevania too. I just couldn't believe that he would permit any game that carries the Castlevania name to completely suck."

Here's a tip, and I'm serious - no joking here, no snide comment nothing, just a tip.

When you review a fighting game or any game, check the control options. Option B for the Wiimote + Nunchuck is the best option hands down; for those looking for a classic fighter feel.

The game in itself is very expansive, however lacks the technicality of a Tekken or Soul Calibur, it is similar to what a 3d Marvel vs Capcom 2 would be like.

Anything more would be my opinion, what I stated above is simply what it is.

I'd recommend you redo your review after testing the game again using Wiimote+Nunchuk and control type B, that should open a whole new vision on the possibilities.
