They want to take risks other studios won’t take. Ambition is by the bucket load at Remedy, which is why they are the future of action games.
The Max Payne series is among my all-time favourites in gaming. A result of the era I miss so dearly. However, Remedy truly are a company that have continued to innovate throughout the many years they've been working in the gaming industry. Another great article, here.
Agreed! Although the culmination of their thought process with episodic narrative was Quantum Break, Control is a streamlined product. Love these guys and girls.
Did not enjoy quantum break ... max payne 2 had way better writing
To me, Remedy peaked with Max Payne and Alan Wake. Quantum Break and Control were not as good as the other two franchises.
100% agreed, Control is just a mere shadow of Alan Wake imho.
Control is amazing IMO. It’s flashy, unique and the powers are awesome.
💯 It's showing a matured Remedy for me. Pure, concentrated deep narrative action at its finest!
it's good but wonder if these guys can make a game that's not grainy.
Can't beat a bit of film grain!
I liked it alot and didn't expect to. It's one if those 8/10 games, star wars fallen order and other flawed yet great games fit into. Excited for control 2. Hmm for me if take these type of games over games like the last of us and halo. Just more fresh and unique
The story is unique, though the powers/gameplay when I first saw them reminded me of PSi-Ops - https://en.wikipedia.org/wi...
The old Remedy was great I'll just say that. When I play control it feels like a mediocre game
Sorry to hear that 😱
You seem like such a nice person. I wish the best for you, friend!
No way! That’s a shame. I think I’m about half way through and genuinely loving it, I’ve got my eyes on the platinum and everything! For now at least, there isn’t a single element I’m not really enjoying. The combat/abilities, the environments, the characters, the story, the general style, the sense of mystery and intrigue. It’s ticking all my boxes. I’d toyed with the idea of getting it before but only now am playing it with psplus on the ps5. I never expected to be such a fan 😂
I enjoyed if, not as tight as some shooters but pretty unique and some good ideas story wise and gameplay wise.
Just as long as they don't make games with cheap final/end bosses like they did in Quantum Break, Remedy have made some great games. I didn't like the over cheap final boss of Quantum Break it took me a long time to beat it. But all their games have been fun
Love their titles, always have a great time
Yes I feel Quantum Break was probably the worst game they have ever made and even Quantum Break was a great memorable game i wanted to play a 2nd time immediately after. Remedy always do great stories and characters
Great studio, max payne 1 and 2 and some of my fave games ever and i just finisged control again for the second time on ps5 which is anither great game! Cant wait to see what they are working on next, likely control 2 id say.
I'd probably say it's a completely different idea. They only did Max Payne to as part of the agreement with Rockstar ❤️
And thank god they did max payne 2 was sickkk! Im totally down for a new IP from remedy though, in saying that due to them being a smaller studio and control kinda popping off id be suprised if they didnt go there again, either way ill be happy
“Itz got good graphics so itz amazing.” - Today’s gaming media 🙄
"Not really compared to other recent releases, but Remedy consistently put put risky content that delivers." - Me 🙄
What’s risky about Control? 😆😂
Alan Wake is still one of the favourite games of all time. Brilliant storytelling and incredible audio presentation were the two highlights for me. I actually squealed with delight when Roy Orbison strums the opening chord to 'In Dreams' as an episode faded to black.
Yep, Stoll need to play American Nightmare!
Not quite as good, more action-oriented than a scary story. Still worth playing though.
Yep love Alan Wake and they how they integrated the soundtrack between original scores from Poets with famous songs. Really underrated. Every song was perfectly fitted. Space Oddity also comes to mind. Love the scene at the farmhouse fighting the dark ones jamming out "Children of the Elder God". As for American Nightmare I enjoyed it too knowing it wasn't a sequel but a more action-packed expansion. Mr. Scratch was a great antagonist, played by Ilkka Villi and voiced by Matthew Porretta https://www.youtube.com/wat... I still play the Happy Song occasionally on the way home after I get screwed at work and need to vent
While I really enjoyed the first Max Payne back in the day and I remember thinking Alan Wake was pretty good (can't remember a lot about it), I found Quantum Break pretty average (stopped playing after like 5 hours) and having played about 4 hours of Control, I'm really not getting the hype around this game. Control's story feels convoluted for the sake of it. The combat is just 'ok'. While it is a pretty game, everything looks the same and I'm already getting bored of the aesthetic.
I’m a huge Alan Wake fan, and after beating Control I also don’t get what people see in it. As far as the story, the game and its marketing want you to think it’s convoluted and mind-bending, but it’s actually pretty uneventful and by-the-numbers.
Max Payne remaster collection, Alan Wake remaster, Alan Wake 2 please, then Max Payne 4
