Skill based matchmaking has less to do with player “skill” and more to do with micro transactions. There was a lot of articles on it a few months ago.
Am I really the only person that thinks SBMM is good? I am a casual player and play with friends cross play, heck even Cross Gen. So I should hate it according to the article. Some matches are better than others, but it usually depends on how tired I am rather than a bad system.
I guess turning it down slightly wouldn’t make much of a difference. But I personally enjoy close matches more than others. Even if we lose.
How about we solve the hacking problem first. Literally can't play a game without a hacker in the lobby now.
SBMM should be incorporated into ranked playlists, of course... but why not have it in a separate mode instead? I don't understand. And people complain about it endlessly...how hard is it to implement?
I remember Gears of War back in the day did exactly this and it worked perfectly. Got some mates who want to join up and climb rankings? Go in ranked. Just finished work and want to play solo with a few beers? Lovely, join an unranked game, spin the wheel...
