The mainline Shin Megami Tensei still has a ways to go before it becomes more accepted in the international market like its spinoff Persona series.

Fun Fact: This entire franchise is based off of a science fiction book. It's one of the most successful licensed properties in gaming

Yeah, finding out about MT's origins was interesting.

And agreed that SMT is lagging behind in terms of western popularity. It's a lot harder a sell than Persona, that's for sure.

Persona is just a more accessible franchise to get into than the mainline SMT in terms of difficulty, premise, and tonality.

Persona was meant to have a more wider appeal and was designed to feel more familiar and relateable to the audience as opposed to the more fantastical and philosophical aspects of the mainline series.

Diehard GameFAN: Welcome back to the fourth installment of “What’s Worth Keeping?” where we help me pare my game collection down to twenty games per system. After all, I own pretty much every system, handheld or console out there and there’s no chance of me ever playing all of these games again, so it make sense to keep only the ones I know I’ll come back to regularly, giving other gamers a chance to own (and hopefully play) the titles I jettison. Man, If I had to review all the shovelware and crap this guy has had to for the DS, I'd have trouble trying to think of good games for the system too.
