Quite the title for a controller being on sale.

SullysCigar1628d ago

Why buy another controller from them anyway? Better off waiting for the new one they're working on to try to bring it up to the DualSense standard lol

phoenixwing1628d ago

I think you're definitely right sully, I'd rather buy the rumored version that competes with Sony.

Sitdown1628d ago

Because it's speculation at this point, with no release date, so people might want to play with others now, instead of waiting on some unknown date. Unless they had an xbox one, then perhaps waiting might make a little more sense.

Darkborn1628d ago

That would take years and I doubt it would be the exact same because I'm sure Sony has patents.

SullysCigar1628d ago

^ @Darkborn, agreed, no doubt it would be a pale imitation in line with what we've come to expect.

ThinkThink1628d ago

Nah, I'll jump on these instead. Nothing against the dual sense, I just wouldn't pay an extra $10 for it.

chiefJohn1171628d ago

I'd rather wait for the elite 3

Freshnikes1628d ago

Just use the x controller is the same thing

Zeref1627d ago

Lol there's no release date on that. For all we know it won't come out until 2 or 3 years from now

I've read some stupid ass headlines in gaming. But this is one of the worst. Shit like this is why gaming is looked at as a shit show of morons. Do better people

Abnor_Mal1628d ago

Trying to dump stock to get ready to launch their own EliteSense haptic/adaptive controller.

Sitdown1628d ago

Wait, Best Buy is launching their own EliteSense? Interesting development.

Abnor_Mal1628d ago

Lol yes, probably, maybe. In truth I meant Best Buy and others are possibly trying to reduce their stock of XBox Seres controllers to get ready for an new controller to hit the market from Microsoft.

After all the praise the DS has been getting, and developers incorporating its features into many games, and XBox head Phil Spencer acknowledging that it is a nice controller a few weeks ago. To then asking the fanbase if they would like similar features in an XBox branded controller. I think that Best Buy and others might be thinking that new controllers are on their way. Especially if they see that DualSense controllers have been selling far greater than Series X controllers. Hell they may have insider knowledge of new controllers soon to hit the market and just trying to get ready to meet demand, and at the same time reduce their stock of standard controllers from XBox.

I hope I've made my thoughts much clearer than in the previous comment. I guess its never a good idea to leave a comment when you're still in bed and haven't fully woken up yet. Nevertheless, I thought your comment was funny and grant you an agree/like for making me laugh. Cheers.

P.S. I've mentioned the EliteSense since the release of the next gen consoles, and speculated that Microsoft would make a controller similar and call it EliteSense. There's no trolling or hate in my comment just what I think/thought would eventually happen.

Sitdown1628d ago (Edited 1628d ago )

I knew what you meant, I was just giving you a hard time. Given that Microsoft loves to talk about how thoroughly they test their controllers, I wonder how soon something like this would even come out, and then the potential failure rate.
I will say that in November, Best Buy had them for $44.99. This sale might have more to do with people being fine wish using the Xbox One controller.

Abnor_Mal1628d ago

"Given that Microsoft loves to talk about how thoroughly they test their controllers, I wonder how soon something like this would even come out, and then the potential failure rate."

I'm not sure, so this is a question more than a statement, but doesn't both Sony and Microsoft use the same company for the rumble in their controllers, the same people who also made the haptic feedback for the DualSense? If so, it might be possible that MS have been offered the same technology but decided that it was not needed, or needed so soon in the start of the generation. Possibly saving it for later on, but now seeing Sony using it and it getting favorable reviews decide to go ahead with making their own version. Its possible that MS has had the technology for the same amount of time and are or have been doing research and development for months and working on lowering any in lab failure rates.

I'm sure many Xbox fans are fine with their controllers as is, but there no denying there is a section of the fan base who are asking/wishing the two controllers were more comparable/equal in features. If not then why is there even an Elite controller on the market already and not considered a failure, but instead people wanted more options. I read all the time that Xbox fans like options with their controllers, so why not an EliteSense. Or could it be because Sony brought it to the market first and now some might be upset to be following in footsteps. No different than those who joke and try to put down game pass but would probably be fine with Sony making their own. Same as back compatibility only being a plus during the start of the gen but claim to be used less and less as the gen goes on. Will those same people now sing praises in the middle of the gen because Sony is doing now, time will tell.

More is always better than less.

@JustTheFax Okay I thought the company name was Immersion, but couldn't find the information when I quickly checked.

I do remember Sonybremov8ng the rumble feature saying something like it was old tech that wasn't necessary anymore. Then there was backlash from the community and they reversed course. I didn't know the number amount they had to payout but do remeber they had to pay licensing fees.

It's far more likely that many places have a lot of controllers sitting around not being bought because the series x is out of stock. Not too many people looking to buy a series x controller if they can't get a series x console.

Abnor_Mal1628d ago

So what would be the purpose of the sale, if they have too many sitting around because no one is able to get a Series X, so not many people are looking to buy a controller if they can't get the system.

I mean I get what you're saying outside of the sale, I'm not buying any PS5 games because I can't get a system. But if those games went on sale I still would not get them because I still don't have the system. So instead I'm foregoing any sales right now, because when I do get the system, hopefully by summer early autumn, those same games will have reduced in their standard retail price, and I would still wait for a sale for them to decrease in price even further.

medman1628d ago

I know what you're saying, but if they don't do something the stock will just sit there. Maybe they will tempt a few people to still pick a series x controller up because unlike the dualsense for ps5 you can use the series x controller on other xbox consoles. So pick it up now for cheaper, especially if you happen to need a new xbox controller anyway, might as well get the new one.

Abnor_Mal1628d ago

Fair point. I'm sure there's going to be people that will buy it for exactly as you say, and possibly for use on PC.

Hopefully Best Buy makes it clear that the controller can be used on various Xbox systems and PC platforms. We always talk about how someone who is a casual may know know the differences between the systems, then the same can be said of them not knowing the cross generation compatibility of the controller.

thornintheside1627d ago

@Abnor_mal

Could also tempt people who already have a series X/S to get a second controller.

Kabaneri1628d ago (Edited 1628d ago )

They probably wouldnt release a new controller until they end XB1 support in two years.

Abnor_Mal1628d ago

They probably won't many any more controllers for the Xbox One since its being phased out, more probable to make a new controller for the Series X.

If I can suggest look on Facebook market place you can get it for under $50 too. Many who bought the console but had to buy bundles are selling their extra accessories
