The story is so great especially if you don't know what's going on, When i played it I kept thinking I bet this is "it" no I bet that's "it" no it's got to be this, but "it" wasn't those things in the end.

It's Japanese story telling style at it's finest, lead you along and let you wonder what is actually going on really keeping you engaged to figure out the mystery.

The RTS gameplay I really enjoyed too, my only regret was that there wasn't even more of it!

I heard 13 Sentinels has a superb story, gotto try it at one point.

I can vouch for Nier Replicant, it has one of the coolest endings I have experience in a game. Took me a while to complete the game fully, but man, it was more than worth it in the end.

This list is awesome 13 Sentinels, Odin Sphere, and Dragons Crown....

it's peak Vanillaware this month.

All three are excellent, Odin Sphere its my personal favorite hack and slash game.

You have 5 characters all with an fully English voiced story that are each part of an over arching story, just FANTASTIC story telling and some of the most fun game play of any game, a game that has many many copy cat games.

Ironically probably more people have played some of the copy cat games and not even realized the game they were playing was trying to emulate Odin Sphere.

I don't really consider them to be the same, Dragon's Crown is multiplayer and emulating old arcade style games like Capcoms D&D games or King of Dragons which it has many references too. Where as Odin Sphere is a full single player game. The gameplay is different as Odins Spehere is a single player right to left on a single plane while Dragons Crown is like say Final Fight where you can move all over the screen.

But you are 100% correct that Odin Sphere is emulating earlier Vanillaware games... but I was trying to hype up the game a little bit, to be completely open I should have said many games try to copy the Vanillaware style that you see in Odin Sphere..

I can't be more sincere in saying I hope you have fun and see a little of what I like about these games.

All three games are completely honestly some of my favorite games.

Incase anyone thinks I am not sincere or just hyping up PlayStation here is a image of my recent Vanillaware games. I have their PS2 games and Dragons Crown on PS3 but they are in storage and I didn't want to dig em up, only my PS4 and 5 games are still at hand.

Yea, for sure, Vanillaware games have great music!

I didn't mention it but one of my favorite things about Japanese games like this is that they always have really unique and creative music. As opposed to the AAA big budget games that have that exact same bombastic music that you could interchange with a dozen other games or superhero movies.

I have a feeling you're going to have a great month! I wish could play these games again for the first time, especially 13 Sentinels, though I have played Odin Sphere and Dragons Crown multiple times.

I am really hoping more people will be on the Dragons Crown servers, I played it alone not too long ago and I really missed the eating section and battling other players to grab the lobsters haha. =)

It's really unfortunate that people don't see the actual quality of these games. I guess if it's not CoD or FIFA it's a bad game... or wait they gave away CoD and FIFA and people still complained...

Oh well, I guess the lesson is they should cater more toward the people who play a wider variety of games than sports ball and shoot bang.

This is a fantastic set of games, I honestly hope more people will play the Vanillaware games and really see how high effort they actually are, and these are some of my favorite games from one of my favorite developers.

I like that they are giving away really good games that many people haven't bought because they really didn't know what to expect, this is actually IMHO the best use of a service like this.

I joked that might do this a couple of days ago. Never expected them to actually do it, thought it made sense but also seemed very against their policy of only releasing the wrong games on premium and their policy of avoiding ps2 like the plague.

Seems times have changed, very excited to see what will happen going forward. Like when Silent Hill 2 Remake releases, will they do the entire series? That would be sensible, but seems too good to be true.

Essential only gets Saints Row, Generation Zero, and Black Desert. They have to differentiate the value between the lowest and higher tiers. I’m in the same boat as you lol.

Pretty much anytime they mention "catalog", PS+ essencial doesn't have access to it. You guys only get the monthly PS+ games, which stay up for grabs for 30 days (but you can play after that if you grab 'em in that month).

Extra and premium get the monthly games yoo but their main advantave is acces to the catalog, a list of PS4 and PS5 games that stays open to these subscribers to download and play for however long they stay there (some stayed for about 6 months, some never leave, it's a case by case thing), it's just a much bigger pool of games available for "free" than essential. Truer to a subscription service though, if games are removed from the catalog you can't play it anymore unless you purchase it, while the monthly games are "yours" as long as you have any PS+ membership active.

Premium/Deluxe also get a unique section of the catalog for classics that PS+ Extra don't have, with games from past older genetations. The difference between these two is the streaming service isn't available in some regions and since there isn't PS3 emulation still, Deluxe miss out on PS3 games on the classics front. I don't think they are ever both offered in the same region though, so what you see on your local store is what's available there.

There's also the "Instant Game Collection" or ICG, it's like a mini catalog, it's a list of games that stay available for all PS+ members to grab whenever they feel like, but it's only like a dozen games long (against the multiple hundreds on the real Catalog), it doesn't get updated monthly but rather it was a list of games to entice PS5 new owners on release, I think maybe a couple games ever got added to it... In fact I believe it's only available on the PS5 storefront still but I may be wrong there.

So having PlayStation Plus Premium kind of reminds of when I used to go up and down isles in Blockbuster Video searching for a good movie to rent in the 90s . The big difference is , I scroll thru rows of video games from my bedroom. Good times for both .
