"This screenshot looks unreal at first glance because of how good it looks, and can be easily mistaken for a CGI movie."
funny how this was mentioned actually, It was originally operating on the Unity engine but then switched to Unreal engine 4. https://www.gameinformer.co... goes to show that UE4 still has more than enough features and power to power future games.
I mean the main developers arguable largest work was a amazing Zelda Majora's Mask animation. And they are working together with Sparx. One of the most prolifere animation and VFX studios out there. So quality art is not really going to be a problem.
Where they might run into problems is in actually making it fun to play. As this is also their first game.
They wouldn't need 7 billion for this deal bud, just like they didn't need 7 billion to buy Insomniac. Pretty sure a company worth north of 45 billion could work out a deal with a brand new developer.
Woah wayyyyy too early to consider purchasing them. As far as I can tell this is their first game as a new studio. They probably want to be independent before being bought by a company. Also we don't know how good the game will be. Usually a company needs a portfolio of games before they are considered valuable to bigger companies.
Microsft/xbox purchased Compulsion Games after only two games neither of which were very good. 'Contrast' from all the way back in 2013 was a small downloadable puzzle based platforming game that I actually played and enjoyed but it wasn't the kind of game that would prove the company was worth a purchase. Their second game from 2016 'We Happy Few' was well a failure by all accounts metas in the mid sixties and that's it and yet Microsoft still purchased them for some reason so as you can see its like I said not necessarily in every case, if Kena turns out to be great having an acclaimed portfolio isn't a deciding factor.
I'm not saying what you are saying is wrong but have we seen actual gameplay of Hellblade yet? I'm not saying if the game won't look amazing, I'm sure it will, but what we seen was actually CGI.
I hope it’s good. Playing immortals reminded me of the old Sphinx and mummy games. I’d like to see that brand of platforming adventure games make a comeback with the new technology and new characters.
I f'n loved those games - I think one was called Sphynx and the Shadow of Tset? I remember enjoying torturing the mummy with electricity to solve puzzles lol
Yeah me too. I think it would be great for the next generation to have those. It’s a good family genre. I can’t remember the exact names either. Sphinx and the cursed mummy or something like that.
^ You're spot on - i just looked it up for a nostalgia trip. It was originally called 'Sphinx and the Shadow of Set' when they released the demo (that I got for PS2 via OPM lol) and they changed it during development to 'Sphinx and the Misfortunate Mummy' and then they changed it AGAIN for launch to 'Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy'!
As for family game - yup, I played this with my dad and he was gagging for a sequel for years after lol
...I might have to look up a little walk through one sleepless night soon lol
Looks amazing. Please be good! This game has had my attention since the reveal.

This game's art style is stunning - looking forward to this one!
Might be my most anticipated game. The game looks incredible and full of life.
This is looking real good.
