I'm glad I hadn't played it yet. Glad to hear Switch 2 is getting some decent ports. As a handheld game, this sounds amazing. Now, I'm not sure if I'm going to wait for the first sale, or go ahead and dive in. My Switch 2 just arrived an hour ago and I'm going through the System transfer ATM.
I spent all that dough on a Switch 2 and Mario Kart and have fallen in love with Breath of the Wild all over again, I simply cannot stop myself from playing it!!!
I still haven't played Cyberpunk but figure I'll pick that up for my PS5Pro at some point. I am keen to play it but am going to hang on a little longer in the hope if a PS5Pro patch.
Same here, despite being a Nintendo fan I have never liked handheld gaming so I will always opt to play multi-platform games on my PS5 where i can.
Plus you can always play it as a handheld with cloud gaming on gamepass or remote play on PS5.... I've tried both and I'm really impressed with how well it actually runs ..

If it was behind say a steam deck or rog than yeah it deserves criticism and a conversation but so far it's giving us results in cyberpunk far greater than the steam deck it's not even in the same ballpark.
Watching cyberpunk on steamdeck it's more wild that it ever got certified because it hitches and stutters constantly in crowded environments. S2 has frame drops in crowded environments environments but not hitching or outright stuttering.

Im just saying, let's stop with the patronizing praise for 3rd party games that are running at inferior framerates and resolutions, as if its some great accomplishment on a device that costs more than a PS5 Slim and far inferior in performance. There is no reason whatsoever any self-respecting gamer would choose to play this inferior port over playing it on PC or PS5/Xbox. And even with delayed launch with older specs, the Switch 2 is matching Series S with upscaling is no small feat. And Series S runs same games as PS5, albeit at reduced res and frames.

No, we're not doing this. I refuse to allow Nintendo this "get out of jail free" card everytime a 3rd party game runs worse on its hardware vs Sony's and MS'. Especially considering it costs more to buy!
First of all, its not a handheld, its a dockable hybrid! Nintendo is the one who chose this wonky hybrid design, rather than making a real home console. No one made them, so they will take the criticism when game performance is inferior to the competition's. They shouldn't be shielded from this just because this is the path they chose.
That may be the game to get me to buy a Switch 2. I don’t care about third party on Switch 2 at all so I’m waiting for exclusives I would play to pile up some. Xenoblade is one of them, Fire Emblem and Astral Chain type of games.

Honestly, I'm more excited about the Xenoblade series than Final Fantasy and Tales on PS5. My game time on Xenoblade 2 and 3 is both 300+ hrs each compared to just 150+ hrs on FF games and 80+ hrs on Tales of Arise.
I mean, the thing holding back the Pro is the CPU, not the GPU. It outperforming a 2013 CPU should be the least expectation, IMHO.

That game supports more next gen features than 95% of the games on the market today.

No, it is a last gen game. If it can be played entirely as intended on last gen hardware, then it was designed for that. Zero features other than graphical are missing from the PS4/XBO version of the game compared to any other game. Not even improved AI or the like exists between them. It is a last gen game.
@andy85 I highly doubt CDPR wanted to release their game in that state. It got so bad that Sony delisted the game and when it went back up they added a disclaimer for people on PS4.

You do realize that this isn't changing your claim that the game was not designed for last gen hardware, right? Future updates not being older hardware compatible isn't the same as what you said at all.

Borderlands 4 is not a port, but was developed on the Switch 2 along with other versions. Let's check it out and compare it to other versions when they release.
Cyberpunk is absolutely not a last gen game. They designed for PC first and then tried to cram it together at the end of the dev cycle and that is why its an absolute disaster.
By that same logic, games like Arkham Knight or Witcher 3 that run extremely compromised on Switch 1 (and in the case of AK, probably one of the worst performing games ever) are basically PS3 level games

The argument for PS5 and pro is also dumb, because PS5 came out first and that’s Sony’s main platform. Pro is just an enhancement for the PS5. They will never make it its prime developing point.

Go back and look at my comment history also. I’ve been critical of the FORCED PARITY that Xbox instilled this Gen. I’m critical of the policy, not the console.

@pwn the consoles nowadays have the same architecture as pc, they create one version of the game and then just make it work on the non-lead platforms. Also you can see for many trailers from the past, they develop the game with way higher settings than it will actually run and then they downscale. Just look at the watch dogs trailer and then how it turned out for example. Also so many things that are wrong with your xbox statement. Who decided that series x is the "main platform", ps5 is main platform cause it came out first but s and x came out at the same time? and the games don't have to run the same on x and s, they need to have the same features. Like the x version can't have splitscreen for a game while the s don't. one can run at locked 60 fps while the other runs between 30-60fps, no problem at all. You know absolutely nothing about it and about general development of games yet S HOLDS THE INDUSTRY BACK!

Why do you think a lot of switch version don’t come out till later?? Because they need to put extra effort into making it work.
Devs literally came out saying they have to take extra precautions when developing for series s, putting in extra resource and time to make it work.

If you run a relay race and you have a weaker and slow partner it doesn’t mean you won’t finish the race but you are being held back from reaching your peak.
Slowing progression to a result is literally what holding it back mean.

Michel1989 i mean in a way. Console versions are much easier and on a similar architecture. That's why when a PC version is decided on for a game its not as simple as changing the settings. Sometimes it takes a solid year for that PC version to come out. And who said the Xbox versions affect Playstation? I didnt. I said the S holds the X back. Nothing to do with Playstation.

Turned out the Switch 1 was gonna be the one holding back gaming, but that was supposed to fail.
It also turned out that last gen held back console gaming as they still make games for it. That wasn’t supposed to occur either. Hehe
It's all about the CPU. If most studios aim for Switch 2 for their games, then we're being held back one generation based on a single platform. Least common denominator thing. The Series S is a huge struggle for current generation and the problem isn't that it couldn't do it, it's that it couldn't do it in a fashion that Microsoft would want it to be advertised (very low resolutions and heavily reliant on AI graphic generation).
And ms screwed the pooch with designing it with less ram than it actually needed. Failure in design.
The Series S isn’t holding gaming back anymore, because developers are prioritizing base PS5 as their default console, and flat out skipping Xbox is they have to, or giving the Series S whatever it gets and try to optimize later, which honestly is the approach it should have been, but MS wanted parity.
The Series S was holding back flagship development of games that needed more RAM. It has nothing really to do with the CPU or GPU. The CPU is basically the same as the Series X, and the GPU could have been better, but resolution and lower asset settings can fix that in the majority of games.
The problem with the Series S is many games are starting to need that full 12GB of RAM buffer or they’re flat out unplayable. This is why performance on PC GPUs that are more powerful than the consoles in raster, are at times getting outperformed by base consoles because their 8GB VRAM pool isn’t enough and tanks performance nearly cutting it in half.
So if you have a VRAM cap (less than 10GBs) on a console that’s already has a GPU that’s performing at around 1/3 the performance of the Series X & PS5, the developers game is memory starved, and at the time Microsoft had a parity clause, then yes the Series S was holding back development.
Cyberpunk didn’t have a 60fps option on Series S when it first launched, PS5 and SX did. Developers have left out modes, and now skipped Xbox all together, when their games are also having issues on PCs with low VRAM.
The Series S is going to be the platform developers use to port games to these handheld PCs, Switch 2, etc…. DLSS is what is going to help the Switch 2 out tremendously, because Cyberpunk is a 540p game being upscaled to 1080p thanks to DLSS and why it still looks quality.
I mean for me it's an amazing handheld that can also happen to play on the TV. It didn't replace my PS5 or my PC, but for someone who doesn't have a Steam Deck (or other portable PC), I'm pretty blown away by its handheld performance.

Welcome to 2025, where efficiency and architecture matter more than size. The Switch 2’s chip is newer and I’m hoping is way more efficient than the PS4 Pro’s dated hardware. Throw in DLSS and some modern tricks, and yeah, it could absolutely outperform something from 2015. I made the comment because it’s not an impressive comparison, whereas… well, you get the picture.
@CrimsonWing69 - having something equivalent to a PS4/PS4 Pro in your hands is nothing to scoff at. Go look at TLOU2 running on a Pro and imagine having that on the go. Amazing how suddenly PS4 games are ugly now.
The Switch 2 chip is only newer in release date. Technologically it’s from the same generation of GPUs inside of the PS5 and SX, just NVIDIAs lowest end offering. So it was never a PS5 or for that matter Series S competitor.
