In approximately one year, December 2021, online services for legacy Halo Xbox 360 titles will be discontinued in order for 343 Industries to fully focus on the future of the franchise. Owners of these titles will still be able to play these games indefinitely but some experiences will be limited or disabled.
Well, can’t say they have rushed this.
Meanwhile every Call of Duty still has multiplayer, even on the Wii.
On one hand this makes sense and was bound to happen at some point. On the other it is really suspicious timing that they announce this days after they reveal the new Halo 3 armor and they are forcing the hideous Halo 4/5 designs onto the game and the Halo community had a massive backlash. I'm just curious if there will be any players keeping it alive like they did when Halo 2 was getting shutdown, that was a really amusing sendoff for Halo 2's online. I remember it was a handful of people that got down to one person and I forgot what happened exactly but I believe his Xbox died? It's been ages since I thought of that story.
