Madden NFL 21 NXT LVL Edition Review | TheXboxHub

Richard writes: "Whilst improvements have been made to overall presentation and data analytics in Madden NFL 21 NXT LVL Edition on Xbox Series X|S, this remains largely the same disappointing entry. It is severely hampered by shallow game modes such as The Yard, Superstar KO, Class Franchise and Face of the Franchise. In the months since the initial release these could have been fleshed out, but the only major update comes in the form of Next Gen Stats."

Give 2K the NFL license and bring back competition

Atom6661130d ago

As much as I'd love that in theory, going with 2k isn't going to help us get less of a focus on microtransactions.

It won't help get less cringe in the story mode either.

Less bugs and fewer connection issues is debatable too.

So I'm going with someone else entirely needs to step in.

badboyz091129d ago

Sony is the only option. But when it comes to sports 2K Sports are the best when they are on there A game.

Atom6661129d ago (Edited 1129d ago )

I think about San Diego too. I'd be behind that (although I don't care for their handling of online franchise and MTXs either).

I'm just not sure we'll ever see someone else step up and outbid EA for the license, sadly.

ReelBigMike1129d ago

I haven't owned a Madden since 2017, but I played 21 on Game Pass. The entire UI is a total nightmare. Honestly that needs to change more than anything else. It soooo slow and clunky and convoluted. It makes doing anything in the menus a massive pain.

THRASHMOUTH1129d ago

I'm surprised Madden hasn't remade any previous entries of their catalogue, but then again, each installment is a remaster of the same game.

bovandy1129d ago

I'd say roster update before remaster. 20 looked worse than 19

One of the worst Game Pass lineups to date unless you're a sports fan that is.

Well fortunately for them, there are a lot of people that play sports games. NBA 2K21 and Madden 21 have sold more than any game that you are playing now with the exception of COD,fortnite and GTA 5.

RgR1141d ago

How is that fortunate....if it sold more then as gamepass content it won't be very useful since they all already bought them.

AmUnRa1141d ago

Yes in the USA, not the rest of the world...Footbal games are still the King.

gravedigger1141d ago

I'll bet Madden and NHL wouldn't appear on Gamepass if there isn't a EA Play. Anyway, regarding NBA2K21, looks like it is a last-gen version or backward compatibility game. Of course, last-gen version was dirt cheap and often on sale, but not the next-gen version.

spicelicka1142d ago

I'm not even a sports games fan and likely won't play most of those games, but objectively speaking it's one of the BEST lineups so far. Literally all those games are from last fall, it's unbelievable how much value there is.

RazzerRedux1142d ago

"Best" is subjective. Nothing "objective" about it.

RgR1141d ago

Sure monetary value...yea.
But how good is that value in terms of the gaming sphere...not good.

It's value that sees the bargain bin pretty quickly.

spicelicka1141d ago (Edited 1141d ago )

@RazzerRedux
At that point there is no argument or discussion, because literally everything is subjective. Obviously you discuss objective components, which in this case is value. When it's old games people complain, when it's indie games people complain, now we have 5-6 AAA games that are all recent releases, it is by all means objective value. Another objective component is diversity, which is actually also covered because this is not the full lineup for the month, there are other games.

@RgR
Lol all those games have good ratings, not sure what gaming sphere you're talking about. If they are bargain bin options in a year, it's all the better that you're getting these games now.

Jeeez you have 6 AAA games from only 6 months ago, in ONE freaking month for a service that costs like $60 a year and people still find ways to complain, it's unbelievable. And those aren't even all the games this month....

Highrevz1142d ago

I’d agree with that.

It’s easily my worst month since GP launched.
Having genres added I don’t like is fine but we normally get a bit more variety.

Squadrons I was saving until I upgrade so we will see how that goes and what else is added later in the month.

x_xavier_x1142d ago

So you're saying that these sports games will only appeal to people that like sports games? Look at the big brain on you!

itsmebryan1142d ago

Star wars Squadron is a sport?

darthv721142d ago

Sure it is... haven't you heard of competitive tie fighting?

343_Guilty_Spark1142d ago

Well actually a lot of gamers love sports games which is why 2K and Maddens are always chart toppers

Z5011141d ago

Which means. The gamers that "love" sports games already bought these old games. Right?

Futureshark1142d ago

Blasphemy!!!!

Burn the Heretic!!!!

CYALTR1141d ago (Edited 1141d ago )

I'm pretty sure this is just the stuff the EA Play section is adding.

EA adds most of last year's sports releases about 4-6 months before the new one's come out.

Atom6661140d ago

Funny thing about opinions...

Could say "one of the BEST lineups to date unless you're NOT a sports fan."

When they put out a bunch of Yakuza games, I'm sure there were some who were disappointed too. Can't deny the popularity of these sports titles (and star wars). And you can't please everyone.

Just got Dirt 5, Killer Queen, and Elite Dangerous back on there a week prior.

Seems like this drop just aligned with EA Play's release dump.

Why does pc get shafted can't find a Xbox series x and have to suffer with piss poor offerings

Tacoboto1142d ago

Star Wars Squadrons, pretty nice. Another 120fps title too!

darthv721142d ago

I'll take it. I been meaning to pick it up but now I can just dl and play.

Tacoboto1142d ago

My friend has the PS version; we tried on my PSVR but I got motion sickness almost instantly. It was his favorite way to play it though - cheers for options!

I'm in the "worst line up' crowd. Not big on yakuza either so it's been a sad few weeks.
