How did this dumpster fire go gold in the state it's in?

ClayRules20121613d ago (Edited 1613d ago )

🤦🏼‍♂️I hear you. The current state of CyberPunk for millions of gamers is appalling, and those gamers out there defending CDPR, it just is beyond me.

I’ve seen some say “Well, like with TW3, wait a couple months or a few more patches in than it’ll be more stable and playable” Ummm, It should’ve been playable from DAY 1! Some bugs here and there, it happens, but to use the excuse that TW3 shipped in bad shape but the devs over several several several patches (which took days, weeks and months) made the game the amazing experience we’ve all come to know and love is not an acceptable answer.

We don’t buy games only to have them not be playable when we buy them and pop them into our machines.

I wonder, with their next game, will history repeat itself “Game gets announced. Some fans hype it to unrealistic levels. It’s shown off. Journalist claim it’s the most stunning thing ever seen in video games/never seen anything like it. Gameplay is shown and some are amazed and some aren’t impressed and feel it’s generic, from the gameplay perspective. First person view gets switched to 3rd person this time (let’s have a little fun😝) this is where I think maybe things in development maybe started going downhill for them, but I could be very wrong. Anyways, You all get the rest, game delayed a few times and than when released it’s another broken game.

BUT...it’s CDPR, remember, they release games which aren’t playable or just completely messy and buggy/glitchy and so forth across the board (TW3 ran darn well for me, I gotta be honest tho😁minus a few little issues, nothing game breaking, ONLY to have some fans say “They’ll fix the game in several patches over the course of many months” I guess this is an acceptable practice to some gamers, but not to myself and so many others, because while this studio is a pro consumer company, and in time we’ll get our money’s worth, I know millions, myself included didn’t spend our money in advance or on day 1 to experience not only these issues, some worse than others (PS5 player) played a little bit and it ran alright, but for older gen owners they didn’t pay to experience the game months and months later after patches hoping to possibly make this game become not only completely playable in a smooth manner, but still enjoyable for last gen owners, if the hype or excitement is even there still.

They earned all that money back, even more than what they spent to make the game, if I’m not mistaken. So, I’m sure they’re happy. But isn’t the goal to make a great game, that fans can enjoyable, when they get their hands on it???

The studio has no one to blame but themselves and a delay was needed and if fans got upset, so be it. This state of release was in no way the right move.

ClayRules2012

Too much defending for a game that had 7 million pre orders. If this was any other publisher they would get hammered yet CDPR are celebrating sales milestones while millions can't play the game they paid full price for. Why wasn't it delayed were they scared people would cancel their pre orders

No early console reviews
No personal footage

Any other publisher and by now reddit would be on fire. When we were bringing up witcher 3 bugs we were told there were not many bugs or major issues and now they are saying wait just like witcher this game will improve overtime. People do realize it took CDPR over 6+ months to get most of major issues resolved and bring some well needed quality of life features. So it means we wait till summer 2021. Also this game has issues on pc too regardless of how many PC gamers defended it

We are settling an bad example and other publishers will be watching this very closely

BLow1612d ago

I just want to know is where did all that energy go like that other game called Days Gone? Remember that game and how "the bugs" ruined it? Where's that same energy here? And I'm just talking about the bugs too lol?

ClayRules20121613d ago (Edited 1613d ago )

@Neutralgamer1992

Yes, thank you for bringing up the 7 million pre orders. That’s such a big number for pre orders alone. Dang! And yeah, if this was any other publisher, they would infect get hammered, but not CDPR (who even when releasing a broken game) can’t seem to do any wrong. Yet, had Naughty Dog released TLoU2 in this shape...oh you better believe not only would fans be tearing them apart, but I myself would’ve been disgusted by their actions, in releasing a game that myself, their fans and they as a studio know all to well the standard that they go by the “NAUGHTY DOG STANDARD” is to hit perfection. And that’s not possible. But they also strive for that with each new game. However, with each game, the quality of their games across the board (regardless of story) all subjective and with this sequel it wasn’t gonna please everyone, many criticized U4’s story too although nowhere to the lengths of TLOU2’s not even close, their overall game, the polish, the sheer detail and care given into literally EVERYTHING is staggering and shows how much that studio and their team respect, love, appreciate, and understand what making games is about. It’s art. They don’t

I know, to some of you reading this and your gonna say TLoU2 was an exclusive and they know the hardware and didn’t have to go off of multiple other consoles and their game wasn’t as ambitious as CyberPunk, alright. However, that doesn’t matter. The game was delayed time and time and time again, but regardless of the struggles and circumstances, you keep pushes forward in working on your game and delay it until it’s in an appropriate and genuinely well great stable state that’s ready for everyone to play your game. As we saw with TLoU2 the studio wasn’t willing to diminish its name and quality of their games for the sake of sales. Some say it already happened with the story, I disagree.

Back to CyberPunk, I believe they were scared of losing their pre order sales, if another delay happened or if review footage that was taken and shared by reviewers was their own and not some BC B Roll footage from the studio from however many months or years ago.

It was shady all around on them, and they took the cowards way out, I believe.

And yeah, that’ll be summer by the time that’ll all possibly be fixed. I say possibly because remember, the upgrade enhancements for Next Gen, which is all great. I’m excited. But I also do feel genuinely bad for my fellow gamers on last gen, how does this effect them. Does CDPR put enough effort into making sure those patches do the game justice for the next 6+months or will they redirect their time into that update for Next Gen consoles because that’ll be the focus and “EVENTUALLY” everyone will own those machines and can experience the game there. Ugh, not the way to do it. I hope that doesn’t happen.

Yeah, I’ve seen many PC players defend it and while some can play it well it seems some can’t and I read someone say the update made it unplayable for them on their PC I believe it was. I mean, it’s a hurricane in all directions, hurting everyone when you think there’s possible light and land nearby.

I agree, buddy. We’re setting a bad example and other publishers will be watching and will possibly do the same thing,

CDPR has released an ever corroding/erupting volcano, that seems to get worse as time goes by for some, better for others, but either way, it’s a continuous lava stream of glitches, bugs and broken game that pollute the gaming industry and players consoles and their gamer hearts this Christmas season.

CDPR, I’d rather put my trust in the GRINCH this Christmas than you, at least he’ll be honest when he takes my heart and breaks it into pieces. Damn...

Bobertt1612d ago

I honestly don't know what they were thinking. CDPR is usually one of the best when it comes to being for the consumer but they obviously knew it needed work after all those delays and this was what they came up with. I put this on management the only possible reason to release it this year would be for the shareholders so it would be on their Q4 earnings but the game being unplayable on last gen tanked the stock. I'm sure it will come back once they fix everything but clearly they could of delayed the game and took the stock hit and had a better launch next year.

Even if you disable it in-game on PS5 it still runs in HDR. You have to completely disable HDR in the system settings. That's weird, I guess the HDR toggle is broken.

Profchaos1613d ago

Yeah I find it weird that the toggle was set to off by default I could of sworn it was on

predex841613d ago

It is only wide color support, you can switch HDR off on PS5 and it looks awesome

Redlife2g1613d ago

I find it pretty shitty on pc too.. Other games work fine.

jbrock111613d ago

DLSS is broken on PC. I have a 3090/10900k and the game literally runs sub 30 fps if it's not on.

jznrpg1613d ago

Yeah that sounds bad . If you have the best rig possible it should at least be pretty good sheesh. It should be a bit easier for them to code for PS5 XSX as they are closed systems and only have to program for those 2 specs but they should have at least tried to get a few high end PC configs working well . I get that it’s not easy for PC as there are so many different combinations of parts It shows how much work is left . I really like CDPR , but they grew so fast after Witcher 3s popularity and had so much to live up to it’s really a shame they had to send it out this way.

DFresh1613d ago

Such a shame.
I’m waiting until it gets fixed before I buy.

jznrpg1613d ago (Edited 1613d ago )

I bought it for my son as he just built a new PC but I’m waiting myself for the PS5 version

sourOG1613d ago

I bought it on PS4 but all I did was create a character and then I went back to finishing immortals. I’ll probably just wait for the free upgrade too before I get into it again. Everything I’m reading says it’s good but the bugs are game breaking. Could be hyperbole but it could be worth the wait anyways. I have other shit to play.

DFresh1613d ago

How does it run on PC?

DLSS should help the Nintendo Switch 2 with longevity

Profchaos21d ago (Edited 21d ago )

Based on so e of the impossible ports we saw on switch 1 I'm not worried about the hardwares longevity.

Next gen systems ps6 and next box might slow down switch 2 development but given leaks showing PlayStation releasing a new portable system around the same time as ps6 that can play ps5 games says that next gen cross gen seems to be poised to last the entire generation

And right now I'd say there isn't much that couldn't be scaled down to run on switch 2

Goodguy0122d ago

Nvidia or Nintendo need to come out and detail how dlss will work on switch 2. Like is it dlss4? Or just completely customized for the switch.

Tacoboto22d ago

I'm sure they've detailed exactly that in documentation provided to developers.

b00mFargl322d ago

It will probably be behind a $20 demo that we have to download. 😂

PRIMORDUS22d ago

I like to know as well, which version of DLSS? 2, 3, 3.5 or 4? I mean it's not that hard for Nintendo to say which version games will use.

Profchaos21d ago (Edited 21d ago )

Given the specs of the system and the time the hardware was produced if I had a stab in the dark I'd say a heavily customised dlss3

Neonridr22d ago

it's GPU is based around ampere technology, which is 3 series cards tech. So some features from DLSS4 can be ported down to older cards, just not some 5 series exclusive features like multi-frame gen.

Notellin22d ago

If they did what would that be even do for you?

Why do you care, are you a developer?

40fps docked is a interesting choice as it's in the vrr range but we don't have confirmation of vrr docked
