Cyberpunk 2077 is out today for all platforms. The game is now confirmed to run at an unlocked frame rate on new-gen consoles but suffers as a result.

I really want to know what's going on with docked vrr cause cyberpunk at 40 fps docked seems to be a choice driven by vrr
The first confirmed use of Nvidia's machine learning-based upscaler is revealed - and it's in one of Switch 2's most demanding titles.
The Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition is coming to the Nintendo Switch 2, but what kind of performance can you expect?
Targeting 1080p means a modest resolution compared to PS5 & Series X - but at least it’s a step up from the disappointing performance on Xbox Series S.
To put things into perspective, the Steam Deck’s preset for Cyberpunk 2077 runs at a mix of medium and low settings, targets 40 FPS, and renders at 650p before upscaling. That means the Switch 2 version will likely be very close to what you get on the Deck in handheld mode, possibly a bit sharper.
When it comes to efficiency, the Steam Deck lasts between 1 hour 40 minutes and 2 hours 15 minutes while running Cyberpunk. Based on Nintendo’s own worst-case scenario, the Switch 2 should be in the same range at around 2 hours, but if it's more efficient, it could do better.
Docked mode is where things get more interesting. The Steam Deck doesn’t have an official docked mode, but with Power Tools, you can overclock it while plugged in, pushing the resolution to 900p native, bumping most settings to medium, and still holding 40 FPS. If the Switch 2 is aiming for 1080p in docked mode and achieving it natively, then it could have a slight edge in performance.
Honestly, that’s solid performance, and if the efficiency is there, it might surpass the Steam Deck when it comes to AAA games. However, it’s not going to be a game-changer. More powerful current Windows handhelds will likely surpass it in many scenarios, but they are also more expensive and less efficient.
40 on a vrr display can result in gameplay that feels akin to 60.
Vrr is an amazing tech we still need to learn if Nintendo vrr bottoms out like PS5 does (xsx doesn't) but I would be expecting 40 with vrr to become a standard on switch 2
a few dips here and there and it calls it terrible framerate pacing?(next gen consoles) its actual video proves it wrong, hmmmm this some of the reasons I give a damn about some reviewers, they just go ahead and put some click bait headlines just to get some hits on their websites.
The video just shows PS5 so why say Xbox Séries X too!?
I played for a few hours on my One X last night and while it’s an awesome game, the frame dips started making me ill.
So I got my series x yesterday and have been playing this on it. Honestly I’d rather just stop because it stil feels unfinished. Using performance mode you can see a lot of haziness on hard edges while moving the camera from the antialiasing and image reconstruction that cdpr is using. Most likely the original image render is sub 50% of actual 4k on performance mode. The 30fps mode works fine but the hit to the framerate from 60 is just unbearable for me. It loads stuff fast and generally runs well. Also the hdr implementation in cyberpunk is kind of terrible. Even the calibration screen is unintuitive.
But I’d rather wait til they fix it. In general I’d say even series x feels a bit unfinished. I’m using it on the lgcx and randomly the tv would switch to a sub 4k resolution and I’d have to restart the tv to fix it. If you switch to 120fps mode sometimes the vrr gets disabled and screen tearing galore happens on games like call to sea. Which again restarting the tv fixes it. When it’s running well and working as advertised it works like a dream. But things like hdr randomly don’t kick in. Quick resume is still one of the best features of the system right now. Playing yakuza in the morning switching to call of the sea and playing gears with friends in the evening and then surprise surprise yakuza is right where I left off the next day same with call to the sea. That’s a brilliant feature.
Currently Using all the latest updates. Not sure what’s the situation on ps5. Also Playing gears 5 on series x feels glitchy and unpolished. Idk if this console or this tv was ready for this. Definitely feels like updates need to be coming in hot to fix these things. Things will get better I’m sure since the one x works smooth as butter still on these games. Covid year definitely has caused a lot of issues I’m sure.
