I'm glad I hadn't played it yet. Glad to hear Switch 2 is getting some decent ports. As a handheld game, this sounds amazing. Now, I'm not sure if I'm going to wait for the first sale, or go ahead and dive in. My Switch 2 just arrived an hour ago and I'm going through the System transfer ATM.

Dlss will definitely help too. Quite excited how Nintendo's future 1st party will look and perform especially zelda and xenoblade. And we can finally say goodbye to a lot of games built for 720p finally as Nintendo is always the one behind in hardware power for the whole games industry.
That may be the game to get me to buy a Switch 2. I don’t care about third party on Switch 2 at all so I’m waiting for exclusives I would play to pile up some. Xenoblade is one of them, Fire Emblem and Astral Chain type of games.

Honestly, I'm more excited about the Xenoblade series than Final Fantasy and Tales on PS5. My game time on Xenoblade 2 and 3 is both 300+ hrs each compared to just 150+ hrs on FF games and 80+ hrs on Tales of Arise.
I mean, the thing holding back the Pro is the CPU, not the GPU. It outperforming a 2013 CPU should be the least expectation, IMHO.
So it’s on par with the Xbox S….but according to some on here the series S holds back gaming. So what the narrative going to be on the Switch 2? Cricket, Cricket, Cricket………..hmmmmm that’s what I thought
Switch 2 has DLSS thats gonna help a lot. Forgetting CP was a last gen game. Let's see if the Switch 2 runs actual new games before running that narrative

That game supports more next gen features than 95% of the games on the market today.
Whether or not it struggled it's still a last gen game. That's the way it was originally designed

No, it is a last gen game. If it can be played entirely as intended on last gen hardware, then it was designed for that. Zero features other than graphical are missing from the PS4/XBO version of the game compared to any other game. Not even improved AI or the like exists between them. It is a last gen game.
@andy85 I highly doubt CDPR wanted to release their game in that state. It got so bad that Sony delisted the game and when it went back up they added a disclaimer for people on PS4.
@franwex that is why they got so much backlash because last gen consoles were not good enough to run the game in a state that matched the footage CDPR was marketing.
@Christopher none of the improvements since Patch 2.0 are available on last gen consoles. That patch brought in many features that are not only graphical and performance improvements. I have linked an article that list some of them

You do realize that this isn't changing your claim that the game was not designed for last gen hardware, right? Future updates not being older hardware compatible isn't the same as what you said at all.

the game might be last gen or in between this gen, but it looks amazing at native 4k on the PC, but I know you cannot compare the Switcheroo 2 to a PC
Borderlands 4 is not a port, but was developed on the Switch 2 along with other versions. Let's check it out and compare it to other versions when they release.

It's not denial because games are modular. why wouldn't the base ps5 hold the ps5pro back then? Do you think that if a game is created for ps, xbox and pc that the pc version is just a completely different thing? because there i can set shadows to low, medium, high, ultra without the ultra version having been compromised. Imagine if they could also do that for the completely stand alone console version...oh wait...
The conclusion yall come to: weakest platform that you don't prefer, that's the one that holds gaming back, but if your preferred platform is weaker than another. the same logic doesn't apply. fanboyism in its ultimate form, its gross.

Using PC as an argument for a CONSOLE argument is weak move.
The argument for PS5 and pro is also dumb, because PS5 came out first and that’s Sony’s main platform. Pro is just an enhancement for the PS5. They will never make it its prime developing point.
But series X is the main platform and series s is a downgraded version that needs to run just as good as series x??
SERIES X can never truly meat its peak when Series S is holding it down.
Where PS5 can go as high as it can because the Pro is just there for its better version.

@michiel1989 the base PS5 doesnt hold back the pro because its designed for the base PS5 specifically. It's not designed for the Pro then scaled back. That's why the S holds the X back because its designed for the X
Go back and look at my comment history also. I’ve been critical of the FORCED PARITY that Xbox instilled this Gen. I’m critical of the policy, not the console.
But yeah. The point is that all that Gen argument was essentially moot due to the success of the switch 1 and PS4.

@pwn the consoles nowadays have the same architecture as pc, they create one version of the game and then just make it work on the non-lead platforms. Also you can see for many trailers from the past, they develop the game with way higher settings than it will actually run and then they downscale. Just look at the watch dogs trailer and then how it turned out for example. Also so many things that are wrong with your xbox statement. Who decided that series x is the "main platform", ps5 is main platform cause it came out first but s and x came out at the same time? and the games don't have to run the same on x and s, they need to have the same features. Like the x version can't have splitscreen for a game while the s don't. one can run at locked 60 fps while the other runs between 30-60fps, no problem at all. You know absolutely nothing about it and about general development of games yet S HOLDS THE INDUSTRY BACK!

Why do you think a lot of switch version don’t come out till later?? Because they need to put extra effort into making it work.
Devs literally came out saying they have to take extra precautions when developing for series s, putting in extra resource and time to make it work.
That’s literally called holding back.
If you run a relay race and you have a weaker and slow partner it doesn’t mean you won’t finish the race but you are being held back from reaching your peak.
Slowing progression to a result is literally what holding it back mean.
Your not as knowledgeable as you think you are.

Michel1989 i mean in a way. Console versions are much easier and on a similar architecture. That's why when a PC version is decided on for a game its not as simple as changing the settings. Sometimes it takes a solid year for that PC version to come out. And who said the Xbox versions affect Playstation? I didnt. I said the S holds the X back. Nothing to do with Playstation.
The forced parity is holding console gaming back-if Microsoft would’ve been successful with the console.
That’s what the complaint was about. It was dependent on the success of that particular console.
Turned out the Switch 1 was gonna be the one holding back gaming, but that was supposed to fail.
It also turned out that last gen held back console gaming as they still make games for it. That wasn’t supposed to occur either. Hehe
It's all about the CPU. If most studios aim for Switch 2 for their games, then we're being held back one generation based on a single platform. Least common denominator thing. The Series S is a huge struggle for current generation and the problem isn't that it couldn't do it, it's that it couldn't do it in a fashion that Microsoft would want it to be advertised (very low resolutions and heavily reliant on AI graphic generation).
And ms screwed the pooch with designing it with less ram than it actually needed. Failure in design.
why would the Switch 2 be comparable to a Series X or PS5? It's a fraction of the size.
Welcome to 2025, where efficiency and architecture matter more than size. The Switch 2’s chip is newer and I’m hoping is way more efficient than the PS4 Pro’s dated hardware. Throw in DLSS and some modern tricks, and yeah, it could absolutely outperform something from 2015. I made the comment because it’s not an impressive comparison, whereas… well, you get the picture.
@CrimsonWing69 - having something equivalent to a PS4/PS4 Pro in your hands is nothing to scoff at. Go look at TLOU2 running on a Pro and imagine having that on the go. Amazing how suddenly PS4 games are ugly now.
