Preload is also available to those who have ordered the physical copy on Xbox systems. It will not unlock until you actually insert the game disk, but still pretty cool time saver for those who still prefer old school physical.
doubt the price wil come down soon but if ya can wait a year maybe... i got it yesterday on gog just wanted Project cd red to get all of my moneys i figure i owe them for the hours i put into witcher 3 alone nvm the fact i got it on sale. (jus hope when online comes i can cross play with my steam friends if not ill prob buy it again on sale too)
Good! Though I’ll wait for the next gen patch as I don’t have a powerful PC. There’s definitely going to be a ton of changes to the game in the next coming months as well if they pay as much care to the game as they did with Witcher 3. Though I don’t think anyone will regret their purchase, no matter if they buy the game day 1 or 4 months later.
They need to include a feature that allows you to download patches for hard copy/disc based games prior to picking them up. I don't see what the harm would be.
You can do this on Xbox, not sure about PS or PC. On Xbox just go to the store and pre-download the game. Obviously you can't play it until launch, but when you insert your disk it will just launch. Once you download the game, go to your My Games section and go to updates. The update for Cyberpunk 2077 will show up and let you download it in advance. There still may be some downloads needed the first time you play, but the majority of installation and downloads will be complete saving several hours of time.
Can't edit other comment so here's the deal. Their tweet with the map is probably not accurate for consoles at least. I am almost 100 percent sure it will unlock on Playstation at 11 pm in my time zone because that's what time games always unlock where I live. I'm betting its midnight eastern time zone, 11 in central. 10 mountain. 9 pacific. I have not had an Xbox since the 360, but some googling showed MS uses same approach. PC I would probably go by their confusing tweet with the map. The more I look at it the more I scratch my head. Just noticed it says in left bottom corner of map when preloads go live on console. Says when they go live for PC in the middle. If your on console just rely on usual release times. I cant remember Playstation ever having staggered releases on games. Same for MS though I have not had one since the 360.
I can’t do it, keeps telling me, “Oops looks like you’re stranded”. Super cool feature, lemme tell you. Is there any way to do this on the console or is it only through the stupid app?
They should allow anyone to download patches now regardless if you pre ordered digital, physical or not at all. It's not like you can do anything with a patch that's surely encrypted. This way when I put my disc in my PS5 on the 10th that patch will be ready to go once the disc copies over.
If this is available on the PS4/PS5 already, my bad I didn't know. I don't remember ever being able to do this.

Il keep an eye on it but il wait till next gen version hits. Or if I find a cheaper key on GOG
Good!

So it’ll be playable at 7pm on the 9th New York time zone? I’m getting different answers from google
