Xbox Series S Runs PlayStation 2 Games With Good Performance via Emulation

The Xbox Series S seems to have very little trouble running several PlayStation 2 games with good performance via emulation.

All they are doing here is putting the XB into DEVT mode and loading PC emulators for PS onto it.

This is just an enthusiast experimenting. You aren't going to be able to goto the XB Game Store and download a PS emulator.

you still need to own these games legally though, or that's just pirating and of course, we don't really discuss piracy over here. many PS2 games are not eligible for purchase anymore and many are also downright impossible to find. So, if you are really itching to play old PS2 games, "renting" through PSNow really isn't so bad, if you live where it's available, considering you can already do that on the PS4.

IF you still have these old games legally, PCSX2 on PC is the way to go. that beats playing natively on the PS2 or PSNow big time in terms of image quality and performance.

The PS2 emulator is very early it's glitchy as hell it will get better. Many of the other emulators work fine.

I might register a developer account myself later on it's only £12 and install retroarch

Still living in 2008? PCSX2 has been near flawless for over a decade now. It currently has a compat rate of 97%, and most of that can be completed without any issues. Beat many games on it over the years without any noticeable bugs or glitches.

The pcsx2 that you use within retroarch is only just come out and is very buggy. It's not the direct pcsx2.exe that you use on a pc

I have 363 games installed on my hdd and external drive. And I have by far more Xbox one titles than BC titles. About 70 to 75 of them are BC.
So while I cant be certain, I'm pretty sure I have more games to play than you do.
I'm not starved. And many other xbox fans are in a similar boat.

"This Xbox has no games" schtick is getting old. PS5 has a whopping two games that ps4 can't play right now, and neither of those games offers a gameplay experience that couldn't be had on last gen systems.

Let's not pretend all the next gen owners on both sides aren't using their fancy new hardware to play old and crossgen games. That's how it's been for the past two generations now.

Honestly, Technically it’s a cool thing that you know MS is going to can quickly. However, I also don’t care about going back to play a lot of these games. Even looking at them now to many of them just don’t hold up well at all. And the few that do have had superior releases lately that make the emulation look archaic.

If I had to choose between Okami HD remaster vs the ps2 version I’m going to go with the remastered version. I would actually like to see these games remade in modern standards. To inspire devs to improve those core mechanics and elevate them higher.

God Hand remade would be pretty epic.

The big takeaway, here, is that the PS5 is perfectly capable of playing your old PS2 game discs... and doesn't because Sony wants you to pay for them again.

If you have a Xbox disc, however, you just put it into your XBox One |S|X, or Series X, and you're playing.

Yes, I totally agree with you, very sad, but luckily I bought a PS5 for PS5 games, if I bought a PS5 for PS2 games, I would be so pissed as well.

I have too many things to play on my PS5 that I forgot to check if it runs games that I was excited to play 2 decades ago, thanks for reminding me that they don't work, I will cry in the corner when I ran out of new games to play.

That's what I'm wondering as well Pcsx2 is not easy to get running correctly on a PC. You have to mess with pretty much every game to get it flawless.
