I believe Piranha has a license [granted by Microsoft] to make Battletech titles. Phil Spencer wanted a new [or newish] Mechwarrior/assualt game on Xbox. Also the granted license may not allow Battletech games on non-Xbox consoles.
If they plan on making a Mechassault sequel/remake, then having Mechwarrior on Xbox could be a way to generate more interest in the Battletech universe. It would be nice to see a new MechCommander too.
@Elit3Nick: Only they've done nothing to generate said interest. They had their own game, Mechwarrior Assult, which they haven't bothered with for years despite requests, and again they leased out the IP to a dev who has developed it into something its overall fan base welcomes.
Yes, MS very well end up buying the dev, but the point remains that MS themselves lacked or did not allow the creative ability that allowed this game to exist.
@anubusgold: My point is that MS is tone deaf as far as making games is concerned. They can't create new IP regardless of studio, they can only buy it. degrade studios when they buy them.
Actually, when the game was originally announced, wasn't it going to be on consoles, including the PS4, only MS blocked it from consoles because of that?
Uh, no, it was always intended as a PC exclusive at the time. PGI didn't have the resources nor the experience to develop a console version, not to mention how difficult it would be to make the game work on a controller.

Nice job Microsoft

Oh I can't wait for this one.
Sega should of brought there chromehounds back from the 360 or made another one, loved that game and love mech games.
