Demon’s Souls – best starting class to choose on PS5

Like many roleplaying games, Demon’s Souls on PS5 presents you with a character creation screen before starting out. Like us, you’ll no doubt spend several minutes tweaking the appearance of your warrior, cycling through the various skin tones, hair styles, and facial proportions to make something truly garish.

One choice that you’ll want to pay particularly close attention to is your starting class in Demon’s Souls. Just like FromSoftware’s original RPG, you’ll have ten classes to choose from though it’s not exactly clear which one is best.

I’m probably gonna start where I left off and run with Soul Arrow. So...Royalty? I think?

robtion1623d ago

The soul arrow is very satisfying in this one. Nice effects.

First I played (11 years ago) I did one playthrough quality build, next one pure mage, then a jack of all trades. I will go with Jack of all trades initially and then few hours in start working on ranger/mage.

I loved the Knight class

Bathyj1623d ago

I'm going temple Knight. First timer. I've only ever played bloodborne.

UltraNova1623d ago (Edited 1623d ago )

Oh, a friendly warning - don't give up it's the most challenging of all souls games, also the best. You're in for a treat.

Bathyj1623d ago

Thanks. I appreciate the encouragement. I think I'll need it. I'm not going to start the game but until I finish Miles. I don't think it's a game you can dip your toe in. All or nothing.

goldwyncq1623d ago

It’s far from the most challenging, it’s the easiest Souls game next to Dark Souls 2. If they’ve played Bloodborne before then they should be able to sail through this game smoothly.

UltraNova1623d ago (Edited 1623d ago )

goldwyncq,

I don't know about that... maybe I feel that way because I've played it 11 years ago and got my a** handed to me? It was my first Souls game after all. The health system in particular is the most punishing aspect tbh. Maybe quality of life improvements made to the remake will make the game "easier" to newcomers...

You are right I'm saying those with previous Souls/borne experience will find it easier.

I still believe it's the most challenging though :-)

akurtz1623d ago

Im starting off with the priest, first time going thru demons souls too and didn’t beat bloodborne. I will though, especially with a performance patch on ps5

oakshin1623d ago

If you think the game looks to easy pick barbarian weak in pve op in pvp

Demon's Souls isn't Soulslike. It's the original Souls game. WTF? And Elden Ring?

Another Crab's Treasure simply is not.

All the journos claiming things are "Soulslike" simply don't know what that word means.

GeeEssEff73d ago

The term “Soulslike” has become ridiculously diluted. I have seen it used for games just because they are difficult.

Cacabunga73d ago

Reminds me of Doom like back in the days for every FPS game

blackblades73d ago (Edited 73d ago )

Yeah, souls, souls lite, souls like same goes for rogue.

anast72d ago

It's either AI or the writer doesn't know the subject matter.

robtion73d ago

I've played all of these bar the Crab one so not a very accurate title.

Goodguy0173d ago (Edited 73d ago )

Nioh 1+2 imo are the best souls clone. Love the melee combat and ki system, really hoping team ninja doesn't abandon the IP and continue with a new title, hell just give us your take on the western fantasy setting for a new nioh game.

robtion72d ago

Yes Nioh 2 in particular is great. Also Wo Long (which is basically Nioh 3).

qalpha72d ago

Should have included 'Lies of P'. Seriously fun game.

Nacho_Z72d ago

That's what I was going to say, great game. Best non From Soulslike I've played.

I see absolutely no difference with base performance mode..

MrWood167d ago

Well yeah it tells you the difference— 1440p vs 4k for 60fps. You have to watch the video in 4k to see the difference.

dantesparda168d ago (Edited 168d ago )

Wukong actually performs worst in performance mode, wtf!

And wheres the damn update for this game. They're still more work to be done.

SPEAKxTHExTRUTH168d ago

I saw Zero noticeable difference when I played it on Pro. The only game I’ve seen significant difference in is FF7RB but now I get these stutters after the Pro update. I can safely say that if you don’t have a PS5 then getting the Pro is a no brainer but upgrading from PS5 to Pro is not a wise move as of now. Wait for better new games.

SPEAKxTHExTRUTH167d ago

So you’re telling me that I DONT have a PS5 Pro and you’re telling me that I DONT have Demon’s Souls and you’re telling me that I DID in fact see a different in a game that according to you I don’t have? Im assuming you’re one of the lucky few who owns a Pro saw a major Difference in Demon’s Souls right?

This list has nine games....

And if these are the "hardest", that's a bit alarming because I'm pretty average and I've managed to 100% more than a third of this list (Demon's Souls, Dark Souls, Hard Corps Uprising, and Catherine).
