PS5 demand is off the charts.

neutralgamer19921646d ago (Edited 1646d ago )

Man I see on ebay amazon and Facebook marketplace people asking well north of $950 on the low end. People who actually want one to play can't get one because of the scalpers. On ebay they are selling for well over a 1000 with active bidding

I guess it's a good business decision right now to buy few and sell for double if not more of the MSRP

Pughski1646d ago

Scalpers from India be like $$$$

Sunny123451646d ago

@Neutal. Where i live there is a limit of of 1 console per person. So thats limits the scalpers to some extent. Though its still sold out. But I ain't too worried, I don't think we will have a stock problem. Even if I don't get it now I will have one by end November. But if I don't get one by December I am gonna get angry.

Ron_Danger1646d ago

This isn’t news. This is how initial preorders were.

Miacosa1646d ago

This never worked for me tired as an option three different times and the console sold out every time before the timer ended.

Ninte1646d ago

Sadly there are people who listed their PS5 the same day they bought it and I'm in NZ and I see it's already flooded with an asking price of $1200 and over. Can't people wait for the next shipment and not get sucked into paying more then the retail price.

GamingSinceForever1646d ago

Someone was nice enough to sell me the physical version for $650. Over retail but not too high.

Dude Dutch1646d ago

Still a wrong thing to do.

S2Killinit1646d ago (Edited 1646d ago )

At least they were fair about it.

Bruh1646d ago

Bruh....don't give scalpers a penny man

GamingSinceForever1646d ago (Edited 1646d ago )

What's so sad about supplying a demand? Seriously if someone is willing to pay $1200 for a $500 console then good for the seller. I have every intention of playing mine however if someone offered me more than double I will do what is economically right. Eventually we will all get our hands on the system.

@Bruh it wasn't a scalper. Someone I knew got one online for someone else who changed their mind. I asked the person to honor the order and paid them a little extra. Yes they could have sold it for way more but they chose to let me get it off them. However that $650 was my absolute max. With taxes here where I live I would have paid $550 retail anyway.

@S2Killinit what is fair? The market demand is the market demand which is set by what people are willing to pay.

I was on Walmart’s website for every single batch. The second it hit the hour and the icon changed I would try to add it to my cart. The website would struggle for about two minutes and then when it finally allowed me to hit the check out button it was sold out. I honestly don’t know what else I could have done. Same thing happened with Best Buy and Amazon during the pre-order phase.

I want to buy one now because it’s always nice to get some gaming in during a holiday but I don’t need one bad enough to give money to the scalpers. If Sony wants my money they should really try harder to take it.

jznrpg1646d ago (Edited 1646d ago )

If Covid wasn’t around I’d say they should do this differently . But with Covid & Bots there isn’t much they can do . They don’t want to encourage people to amass at the store .

Seraphim1646d ago (Edited 1646d ago )

Walmart was a shite show. 12pm got through most of checkout. 3pm got no where. 6pm got no where. 9pm I got to submit order despite for some reason having to put my payment info in even though I saved it the night before. At submit order, the last step, loading, loading, error, loading, sold out. So pissed off. I got a whopping 3 hours of sleep yesterday morning. And despite constantly checking Best Buy & Target even though I missed out on the 2 that were listing 60 min North of me late Wed night.

And the fact that EVERYTHING is online only is such BS. Why couldn't I have placed a pre-order in store? Allot each location X units and hold whatever back for online sales. Or even allow X pre0-orders over allotment and let the customer you likely won't have launch day but when the first additional shipment drops you should be able to get one. Walmart had to have gotten a massive shipment of PS5s for launch. If they truly don't want people coming into the stores they'd section off everything except pharmacy, grocery and household necessities. I took the long shot of stopping by Meijer at opening Thursday and they weren't allotted any PS5s for launch. I imagine the same can be said for XB as they aren't carrying any next gen stuff atm likely due to not even having access to consoles.

It's a complete and utter joke and failure on so many levels from so many places. There needs to be a better process and more units available at launch. This is like 20+ years ago where supply was limited to drum up hype, free publicity and give the perception of massive units moving.

oh and best of all. when I check Best Buy they tell me the closest Demo Unit is 3 hours away. Why TF does Best Buy have demo units!!?? We don't want foot traffic due to co-vid but hey, come check out the new PS5 demo in select stores now.

Challengerscatpack1646d ago

Wal mart was a joke. Yesterday I got through checkout, review order and got my card CVV added. I got submit, error. I do it 10 times it goes to the next screen and says “place order.” I hit it, it takes me back to the review order screen. I went through this endless loop 10 times. I thought I had one, the last time I clicked place order it gave me that stupid ass reindeer screen. I was livid.

Can’t wait! Like my hype has never been this high for a game. I hope it really delivers and looks like what they’re showing. Like, I’ll finally feel like we’ve entered next-gen if it does.

lucasnooker3h ago

Only game this generation I’m truly hyped for. A true AAA big budget banger pushing the hardware to the limits like the good old days!

Levii_922h ago

I can't wait for this overblown cutscene game to come out so i never buy it and spend money on it.

pwnmaster30001h ago

Thanks for sharing.
I guess I’ll do the opposite

Yui_Suzumiya26m ago

Hell yes! Someone speaking my language for once.

GhostScholar2h ago

Technically it looks incredible but I’m a bit disappointed that it’s turned into a franchise about heists. I miss the more carried mission structure. I miss having just one playable character too.

PhillyDonJawn42m ago

Bubsy's Purrfect Collection Couldn't Be in Better Hands | VGChartz Preview

VGChartz's Evan Norris: "During my time at PAX East, Sorlie walked me through two titles: the original Bubsy on SNES (his personal favorite) and the now infamous Bubsy 3D, the franchise's first foray into three dimensions. Each game in the anthology will feature the quality-of-life features common to Limited Run's Carbon Engine, including rewind, save states, screen & filter options, and even an optional "boost mode" that overclocks the system slightly to remove slowdown."

My one friend and I loved Bubsy 1. We used to compare him to Sonic all the time. So with us and the one person from this article it has at least three fans. 🤣

I was so lucky as a kid my parents convinced me to rent Busby 3d first because I was full steam ahead on buying it with my pocket money based on the advertising alone.
