Here is how same games look on Xbox One X and Xbox Series S

If you were wandering if Xbox Series S can reproduce the same level of details as the Xbox One X (resolution aside), playing games like Hellblade, Forza Motorsport 7 or F1 2020. The answer is no.

This discrepancy was already confirmed weeks ago. We knew the Series S would be running the base versions of the games rather than the X enhanced ones.

TheScotsman1627d ago

This is why they had to discontinue the one x, I mean you can't very well have a console that's older running games much better than a new console your trying to fool people into buying

ExBee1627d ago

And considering getting a One X pre-owned is probably the same cost (at least in the UK) as a brand new Series S, you may as well get the One X. Not much is totally different, especially to the average consumer

bouzebbal1627d ago

I'm more interested in xss vs x1x comparisons

dcbronco1627d ago

ExBee you'd be making a huge mistake. There are abilities in the RDNA 2 architecture that the Scorpion engine doesn't have. Don't make the mistake of thinking launch games tell the whole story. Machine learning, variable rate shading and several other features make the Series S far better than the One X.

dcbronco1626d ago

Exbee this is the kind of thing the sheep and shills don't tell you.

I expected it for sure to be this way. Series S is for the casual or budget gamer's. I'm happy i have a Xbox one X because i can't afford to upgrade right now. Being unsure if everything will get shut down again. I can't splurg

NeoGamer2321627d ago

Personally I want to see Series S compared to XBO S.

I don't know why they are comparing the high end console last gen with the low end console of this gen.

Apples-to-Apples would be XBO S compared with XSS.

oasdada1627d ago

Because you could buy xbox one x for the same price as series S.. unfortunately they discontinued one x

GamerRN1627d ago

But to compare the m this two wouldn't be fair considering one has lower gpu but SSD and ray tracing

Sirk7x1627d ago (Edited 1627d ago )

I could be wrong, but I think the One X was still $100 more than the Series S while it was still being manufactured.
Not only that, but if we ignore resolution, the Series S is capable of many things that the One X isn't, like much faster loading times, quick resume, ray tracing, and the ability to play games that aren't going to be cross-gen in the future. The One X had more memory, and a beefier GPU I think, but its CPU pales in comparison to new-gen hardware.

Vits1627d ago (Edited 1627d ago )

You couldn't though. The Xbox One X had a MSRP of $500.

source: https://www.techradar.com/n...

Sure with some deals and such you might get luck enough to find one for $300 (Series S MSRP) and for the majority of the last year or so I saw it going for ~$400. But those were exceptional cases and the same will apply to the Series S once we start seeing deals featuring it.

RpgSama1627d ago

Because the low end NEXT GEN console should be better than the high end last gen one, it doesn't matter how you spin it

1627d ago
NeoGamer2321627d ago

It is better then the high end product of the last generation.

It supports fast SSD, more memory, a faster CPU, and modern GPU functionality at 1440p...

THE ONLY THING THAT MAKES IT LESS THEN XBO X IS THAT IT DOES NOT RENDER IN 4K. FOR THAT IT USES HARDWARE UPSCALING SO THAT IT CAN DELIVER A 4K PICTURE.

ScootaKuH1627d ago

Indeed it should. And it definitely isn't.

Next gen indeed..

dcbronco1627d ago

The S is better in many ways. Sony fanboys with a need to drag Microsoft down have either no integrity or idea what they're talking about. If you want to understand the difference ho to the forums on beyond 3d or someplace where developers post. Don't listen to sheep or uneducated fanboys. As the generation moves on the Series S will prove itself.

These are older back compat games new games like creed valhalla look and run mint. What the headline doesn't say is the back compat titles are the one S versions and not enhanced

Charal1627d ago

Your comment is kind of dumb, sorry.
Games in this articles are run with BC on Serie S.
AC Valhalla will run the next gen version (toned down for Serie S), not through BC.

And at the opposite, older games should benefit the most from BC on a new machine.

Father__Merrin1627d ago

so is yours.... ive mentioned these are older games i know some has X enhancemnts that are not on the S

VariantAEC1627d ago

Another issue concerning the S that some will ignore for senseless reasons.
If you're going into next gen get next gen hardware. The S isn't it.

X or bust.

East76lands1627d ago (Edited 1627d ago )

PS5 or Series X

VariantAEC1622d ago

@Mr Logic
PS5 and PC that's what I'm going to stick with just like last gen PS4 and PC. As soon as I can land a PS5.

Xbox Cloud Gaming Usage Breakdown Reveals Surprising Device Trends

I get there are those who have no interest in streaming... I didn't at first, but then I got to testing out various games on different devices. I can't use my phone, screen is to small. I have used a 2013 VCR XBO to stream flight sim and it played surprisingly well. I also use a Logitech G-Cloud which is made specifically for streaming XB games as well as Nvidia Shield stuff. and that is what i primarily use now. I also have been using my living room One X to stream indiana jones and south of midnight. Both of which play great with little to no lag. then again i am using 1gb internet on a mesh network with the consoles wired in.

I never thought Id say this but... I really like the convenience of xcloud and PS+ premium and using the portal to play directly from the cloud as well. I get it, I get it... I will get major downvotes but this is my setup and my choice to do so. Everyone has the opportunity to do it themselves so you dont have to take my word for it.

It works for me.

sci4me1d 16h ago

I have to agree. It was a better experience than i expected it to be. I never want it to be the only option though, i prefer to play "the old way" . I dont want to be forced to stream my games of choice but as an extra option on the go its really good..

Fallout and Skyrim show us that talented developers make great games when you leave them alone

That judicious lack of oversight permeated everything in Bethesda's RPGs, in a positive fashion.

Christopher7d ago

I much prefer a left alone Obsidian and Larian Studios. Bethesda's formula has grown old for me.

anast5d ago

Larian hit another level with DOS:2 and then took it even further with BG3. They do high quality work.

jznrpg6d ago (Edited 6d ago )

Skyrim was a letdown compared to previous games and so was Fallout 4

Kosic5d ago

I agree, I found it an interesting game. But nowhere near worth the hype (unless you include mods)

dmonee6d ago

Skyrim blew my mind when it released. That game took me to the gaming, promisedland. Going back to it when it was updated for the PS5, it felt slightly rough around the edges, but great for its time

TheColbertinator5d ago

We should leave Obsidian alone. Bethesda on the other hand should be kept under constant psychiatric observation.

anast5d ago

Skyrim feels like the game was made in a hurry with a disorganized team.
