Let me correct that.

"Phil Spencer loves to *say* he loves PlayStation right before he talks crap about them."

Phil can say whatever he want it's his actions that people judge and those actions are the opposite of what he says. How about instead of talking about putting gamepass on PlayStation how about you talk about putting PSNow on Xbox.

SullysCigar35d ago

He'll try to get Gamepass on Switch next. If he ever manages to get it onto PlayStation, it's over for Xbox hardware imo.

They've been focusing on gaas for ages and more recently appear to be moving more heavily into a publishing focus. They left exclusive games behind ages ago.

Lennoxb6335d ago

How many times are y’all gonna say Xbox will be done with hardware and how many times does MS has to say it won’t be.

SullysCigar35d ago

^ MS has said a lot of things over the years that have turned out to be lies though, right? BIG things.

Atom66635d ago

Well, next year marks 20 years for some of these prophets being wrong. I say they at least have another 20 years in them.

DaveZero35d ago

One of the xbox is finished in the industry people, get a life and grow up it's stupid.

SullysCigar35d ago

^ @DaveZero, one of the can't read people. Is Sega "finished in the industry" just because it doesn't have a console? No. Be a little less defensive, it's stupid.

Has he actually 'talked crap' about playstation or are you thinking he has because he says something nice but also goes on to inject something xbox related as well? Greenberg ... yeah he has talked crap but I dont think Phil has. He respects Sony and Sony respect him (the others in team xb maybe not so much)

DaveZero35d ago

That's about right that fan boys just cant let it sink in.

TheRealTedCruz35d ago

Sony fans, at least many here on N4G, will never be happy unless MS rolls over and straight up cucks themselves.

spicelicka35d ago

lmao "talks crap about them". What are you so butthurt about dude? He's literally congratulated Sony multiple times on successful releases and also repeatedly says he likes playing PS games. Believe it or not him and the Sony CEo both own all consoles and don't need to be butthurt fanboys like yourself

Zeeb35d ago

Have you ever considered that if you get upset by what I say that you're actually the fanboy?

nickanasty20635d ago (Edited 35d ago )

As a multi-platform owner, I would love PS Now on Xbox or GamePass on PlayStation. More to play is never a bad thing. Peoples misdirected anger towards Xbox is undeserved regardless. I will never understand the fanboys.

Charlieboy33335d ago (Edited 35d ago )

That doesn't make any sense. So you want everything with everything? You want a BMW engine in your Toyota. You want your Big Mac from KFC. You want to buy a girlfriend from Walmart. You want muscles but you don't feel like putting in the effort. So...let me give you some advice for life. Everything....and I mean everything...has a price that directly correlates to the reward. Buy a Playstation and you are rewarded by PLAYSTATION and THEIR offerings. Buy an XBOX and you get whatever scraps they throw you to keep you crawling back. What the hell would be the point of everything being on everything!? Would you like every car to be the same? Every house to look the same? Everyone to dress the same?......just so you can say everyone is getting the same experience? I mean fuck man, there is a reason things differ in life including consoles and the games associated with them. It keeps things interesting and exciting......and DIFFERENT. As a " multi platform" owner what you are saying is that you wish the platforns were less " multi". Just one size fits all kind of thing......boring as fuck.

nickanasty20634d ago (Edited 34d ago )

@charlieboy future is going towards playing what you want when you want on any device. Just saying that is where things are going, sounds like adjusting may be more difficult for you. I think if you make platforms accessible and convenient is the way of the future. For instance, you have netflix right? And its a subscription right? You pay for the service and are able to play all of those video libraries on almost every device. For instance, you have a playstation but don't want to buy an xbox, but do want to subscribe to a service like gamepass to try games out, maybe you don't want to pay 70 a game to play them. Wouldn't you want that same subscription you subscribe to to be accessible in more places? I mean, that is the only way i am looking at this. You may have understood me wrong, but that is where the future lies. I know you may not like to hear it now, but that is where things are going. Convenience is really what we are all buying into and being able to play games anywhere anytime regardless of platform. It allows consumers to still get a piece of the pie for games they want to play, where they want to play them, without buying hardware. Sony and Microsoft would both benefit because they have monthly subscribers that net them way more money than selling you hardware they lose money on. Not sure if you know this, but consoles are not themselves profitable at all, software is. I don't see a problem with this. Just saying.

FyBy35d ago

That with ps now is great idea! If he will do it, I will start to believe him :-)

Zeeb35d ago (Edited 35d ago )

He's always trying to get Sony to bend to his will, why doesn't he do something to help Sony make money?

When he does that then i'll start to believe him every time he says crap like this. Until then it's all just him talking and playing fake nice guy.

nickanasty20634d ago

@Zeeb - "Why doesn't he do something to help Sony make money?"

Well Zeeb, i hate to make a fanboy melt, but Phil Spencer and Microsoft are helping Sony make money.

The Playstation network is going to be heavily supported by Azure Datacenters. Guessing mostly for things like PSNow. Hate to break it to you.

spicelicka35d ago

haha nice try but I'm only amused....

TheRealTedCruz35d ago

Why do that? Even Playstation gamers don't like PS Now. 110 million consoles sold, and barely clearing 2 million subs at $60 (or less) a year.

Outside_ofthe_Box35d ago

"Why do that? "

Because it's pro consumer

Gameseeker_Frampt35d ago

How exactly is Phil Spencer saying "I’m not sure that those are the next big set of users for us" equate to talking crap about PlayStation? Did you even read the article or did you just skip ahead straight to making a stupid fanboy comment?

GamerRN34d ago

No reason for PS NOW on Xbox, and not a chance he would put Gamepass on PlayStation. He's obviously just being diplomatic workout saying "no way"

"I’m not sure that those are the next big set of users for us, but we could be open to those discussions"

Oh please, by the end of next gen, Nintendo will have Gamepass in some shape or form, either that or Microsoft titles, the smaller ones, on the Switch. They'll get to Playstation eventually but it's really the last stop for them. The first big game I can imagine will be something to do with Rare, whether its Goldeneye or Banjo.

If they do this then it shows us it's not about consoles, it's about service. The Netflix of games where Microsoft becomes a huge third party company over time, dipping their fingers in as many pies as they can. The reason it's a slow drip over the years because they know if people knew their plans they wouldn't buy the new Xbox.

They've already talked recently about a streaming stick with gamepass, that could plug into so many things.

mrsolidsteel2036d ago

So true, I think MS is potentially softening the blow to their fan base.

Their ultimate goal is to have the Xbox app/Gamepass on every device including Sony consoles.

shabz66635d ago

I wouldn’t mind if they can put it on other systems. It’s only good for gamers. Gamepass is a damn good deal.

spicelicka35d ago

If that's their plan it's only a good thing. The less consoles the better, then fanboys can stop crying over their favourite piece of plastic.

DaveZero35d ago

Some ways I agree in regards to complaining fanboys, but why should the rest who enjoy everything lose out to the moaning gits.

Its healthy that there are more than less consoles, good for gamers overall but fanboys try ruin it for eveveryone else. It would be fanboys on all sides that would say no to both psn or gamepass being on the other platforms, yet gamers win from it..

RazzerRedux36d ago (Edited 36d ago )

"Still, there’s a slim chance. Gamepass is a streaming service and PlayStation already plays host to several – Spotify, Netflix, Disney+, and more, even though they all eat into Sony’s potential movie/TV show rentals/sales from the PlayStation Store. There’s a very slim chance, then. As the old saying goes: Never say never."

Game Pass is not a streaming service like "Spotify, Netflix, Disney+". That is a overly simplistic comparison and ignores the fact that most people have TVs or devices (chromecast, roku, etc.) that already have those services built in. So to say including these omnipresent video streaming services "eat into" Sony's video revenue is just silly. And to suggest this creates a precedence for Sony to allow Microsoft to sell its services on PlayStation devices is just false. Of course, Phil Spencer would love to get a piece of the PlayStation pie, but he knows damn well that is *never* (yeah, I said it) going to happen.

RavenTears35d ago

The only way that I can see Xbox Game Pass on Playstation Console, if is only include Xbox exclusive because PlayStation don't want Xbox to compete against PSNOW on their own platform.
