Oh yeah this is totally equivalent to that fiasco :S

@OptimusDK. I know you're trolling for laughs, but just in case you genuinely don't understand the difference here goes:

When Microsoft led by Don Mattrick first revealed the Xbox One instead of highlighting its gaming qualities the focus was instead on TV, this is because his vision for Xbox was that it should be a multimedia hub that prioritised TV services and that's why the whole conference was dominated by references to TV. Ultimately his vision was misguided because gamers wanted a console to be focused on... games!

There's nothing inherently wrong with multimedia apps like Netflix and Spotify being on consoles, in fact they are a natural fit for these entertainment devices which many people will be using. But if you look at the reveal events for the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X you will see that the focus was purely on the games. Multimedia apps are available but they are not the core purpose of these new consoles as evidenced with this news being shared by an informative but low-key blog post.

@Venom, maybe optimus just forgot the /s at the end? In any case I like it when a system can do multiple things. The last time there was a games 'only' system was the gamecube. No movie or music support (not without making some changes)... just games. While everything else since the birth of the CD has had at least music support and grew from there. Be it dvd or streaming... there has been at least some form of non-gaming media support. But like i said, it was the gamecube that was the last of the great games only era.

And for the record, the Panasonic Q doesnt negate that fact even though it was a GCN that could play dvd's. It was a 3rd party release.

"When Microsoft *** first revealed the Xbox One instead of highlighting its gaming qualities"

Seems to be a habit, talking up their systems but downplaying games in terms of both quality and 1st party quantity.

S2Killinit1279d ago

@Darth
Not sure what your point is, but since you wanted to set the record straight, lets set it straight properly. Just to be clear, no console maker has ever revealed a gaming console by mentioning almost nothing about games, except for one.

OptimusDK1279d ago

It was just for the fun of it - relax :-D

S2Killinit1279d ago (Edited 1279d ago )

@Optimus
I actually had a hunch it was. But these days you cant tell anymore.

Sorry you’re getting downvoted to hell... not sure why N4G never seems to understand jokes.

In fact, most probably aren’t 😀

Everyone knows PS5 actually has games to go along with tv tv tv.

Very weak troll attempt. 0/10

CrimsonWing691279d ago

welcome to the 21st century, dude!

thorstein1279d ago

Thorough and thought-provoking. But, I wish you would have added TV.

Still dont see the need for this to be honest but still great for anyone that buys and wants it

S2Killinit1280d ago (Edited 1280d ago )

I do need this because I buy my anime on my PlayStation and I find the controller cumbersome for that purpose. Also the PS4 triggers sometime inadvertently fast forward when you make contact while its lying on the floor.

Skuletor1279d ago

That accidentally fast forwarding or rewinding when putting the controller down, I've done it so many times over the years now.

enkiduxiv1280d ago

Not everyone has a smart TV. This just gives those customers another avenue to things like Hulu and Netflix.

jukins1280d ago

Its a convenient thing. . One button press straight to the most commonly used streaming services. Even with smart tvs like my Samsung ks8500 apps are starting to become unusable or just flat out expired.

darthv721280d ago (Edited 1280d ago )

Samsung does a pretty good job of updating their apps on their smart tv's. I have an older 55" SUHD and it still gets updates for hulu and netflix and added disney+ and hbo max (and those didnt exist back in 2016 when the set released).

I will say though that I only use the TV apps if there is something wrong with my console. I use a SAD for streaming those and sometimes XBL has issues so I will just use the TV app. It's good to have options.

Ju1280d ago

Apple TV on PlayStation? No Hulu?

StoneyYoshi1280d ago

"Additional streaming apps* coming to PS5 include Amazon Prime Video, MyCanal, Hulu, Peacock, and more."

Ju1280d ago

Ok, so not at launch, but in progress. Good.

StoneyYoshi1280d ago (Edited 1280d ago )

@Ju

It doesn't say they are coming after launch. I think they just wanted to highlight the apps with dedicated media buttons on the remote and the apps that integrate with streaming so thats why they just gave that additional statement about the other apps afterwards also because some of those other apps may not be available in other countries while TwitchTV, Youtube, Disney+, Netflix, Apple TV are most likely available in all of the countries that PS5 will be sold.

nyctophilia131280d ago

No HBO Max?? Guess I'll have to keep my PS4 connected since it's the only device I own that supports it..

StoneyYoshi1280d ago

"Additional streaming apps* coming to PS5 include Amazon Prime Video, MyCanal, Hulu, Peacock, and more."

If its on PS4 it most likely will be on PS5 but maybe not at launch. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Its up to HBO to make the app work on PS5

nyctophilia131279d ago

Lol why all the disagress? If it's not supported at launch, I'll still have to use my PS4 for the time being. How anyone can disagree with that is beyond me, but its N4G so...lol

DragonWarrior191279d ago

HBO Max can't negotiate it's way out of a paper bag to get on Hulu and Amazon and it launched six months ago. HBO made an awesome streaming service that 70% of the streaming capable devices can't use.

StoneyYoshi1280d ago

This is the first playstation media remote I actually care to get. If media consumption on the PS5 is super responsive, this might just keep me from using the Android TV built into my Bravia and everything will be done through my PS5 except whenever we cast something from our phone of course. I doubt the PS5 will support casting.

SamPao1280d ago

same... its such a beauty ... I hope there will be even more apps, and local tv apps join in so I dont need anything else, not that I use them much but I would love my ps to be the only thing around my tv

Straight for the horse mouth, "I already found it difficult to get invested in the characters and the story Stellar Blade is trying to tell when it’s selling itself the way it is."

The writer was already writing it off before playing it. Hence the score. It's so blatant it's hard to ignore. This is the very definition of bias.

The review praises gameplay and sound...so pretty much 80% of the game.

So the writer actually wanted to give an 8/10 but because of the imposed controversy they were forced to give it lower.

You don't give a game, which you confess having tons of fun with, a 6/10

ravens5241m ago

Expected from some reviews unfortunately. We all knew they'd use that to take points.

RonnySins4m ago

What a joke of a review! I’d choose this game over movie-like games with garbage stories such as Spider-man 2 and TloU 2 any day.
