you didnt seem like the java type anyways, it prob keeps you up at night so no worries.

Disappointing level of maturity from you there darthv72, if I'm honest. I'm just not a fan of companies doing this. It's unnecessary and simply a ploy to strong-arm you into their eco system, complete with all the third-party malarkey in the T & Cs...

I felt the same when Oculus recently made it mandatory to link your Facebook account (or create one) before you can play on your Quest. I don't have an account and even if I did, I wouldn't want to link my gaming to it.

Eien40d ago

Not a fan of the idea but if its shit pirating is always an option.

NotoriousWhiz40d ago

^ Exactly why the gaming industry would likely collapse without consoles.

Eien40d ago

except this only applies to people who already own the game ... so they aren't losing money.

NotoriousWhiz40d ago

The fact that it's "always an option" reinforces my statement.

Gotta boost those MAU. I expect them to pretend that all the people they forced to sign up for this are all new xbox owners when they start reporting next gen.

King_Noctis40d ago

Does owning a Microsoft account mean that you automatically own Gamepass? Because last time I checked, Gamepass MAU is more important to MS than a login account.

Zeeb40d ago (Edited 40d ago )

Hah... as if. Microsoft will talk about any numbers they can ever right after they say they don't want to talk about numbers anymore.

I already expect that Microsoft is cutting checks to all the sales tracking firms to inflate the numbers.

Kerppamaister40d ago

Yeah pretty sure there are about a couple of billion ms accounts. I have 3 myself, one for gaming and then one from studies and third from work. Pretty sure MS knows which ones are related to gaming.

Minecraft isn't a game huh, interesting...

“ Microsoft will talk about any numbers they can ever right after they say they don't want to talk about numbers anymore.”

So what do those number have anything to do with gaming? Even if they talk about how many MS login accounts they have, do you think that info will be picked up by gaming sites? I fail to understand your logic.

“ I already expect that Microsoft is cutting checks to all the sales tracking firms to inflate the numbers.”

If their business is ran using this kind of fanboy logic, I doubt they could have lasted till today. You do realize that they have to report all these numbers to their stockholder right?

“ Minecraft isn't a game huh, interesting”

Can you point out any sources which state that MS boasted about Minecraft and the amount of MS logins it has?

"Even if they talk about how many MS login accounts they have, do you think that info will be picked up by gaming sites?"

Yes, are you even serious?!? They brag about MAU and subscriber numbers all the time.

"You do realize that they have to report all these numbers to their stockholder right?"

No they don't all they report is revenue and they don't even have to report that. All the sales numbers you see for consoles come from sites like vgcharts and other third party tracking sites. Do you really not after all this time understand how things work?

"Can you point out any sources which state that MS boasted about Minecraft and the amount of MS logins it has?"

Here is one of many links.

Why does this sound like MS declaring their influence in Java?

gravedigger40d ago

Easy way to boost MAUs and brag about it on Q reports.
