Spider-Man: Miles Morales Creative Director Explains Differences Between PS5 and PS4 Versions

Sony recently revealed that some of PlayStation 5's key games, including Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales, are also releasing on PS4. While there have been concerns that these cross-gen exclusives won't make the most of the new hardware, it at least means a wider audience will be able to play them. But what are the key differences between a PS5 and PS4 version of the same game?

Same, naturally!

For anyone wanting to know the differences, they're talked about in the final 1 minute 30 seconds of this 35 minute video lol

Essentially, PS5 will have instant loading (no loading screens for deaths or fast travel), increased graphics fidelity, "ray traced reflections everywhere", some pretty intricate use of the haptics in DualSense and you'll be able to feel the tension in the web as you swing - he doesn't go into any more detail than that in this vid.

Your name is one of my fav’s on here! I always think of Victor Sullivan, of course smoking a Cigar, and it’s just a smile moment lol.

Yeah, watching the whole video was nice. But when he described the differences in the end there, it made me even more anxious to feel this game for the first time, knowing you’ll be able to feel the tension in the web as you swing, thanks to some pretty intricate use of the haptics in the DualSense!

I'm getting the ultimate edition so it can play on both PS4 and PS5.

MrNinosan36d ago

Hmm, the Ultimate is only for PS5 or did I miss something along the way?

Felix_Argyle_Catbro35d ago

And of course the only thing that actually matters, 60fps.

Nino, im buying the ps4 version with free upgrade to ps5 and small fee to turn it into ultimate gets me remastered for ps5 as well. I am covering both bases

Me too! Can’t wait.

I hope those on PS4 aren’t disappointed tho, and love the game they receive, which I believe will be really great in its own right.

Pretty sure it's still the same engine so it'll run like the first spiderman, which is practically flawless

I'm pissed I bought the regular version on PS4. I don't want the ultimate edition... Can we get MM Add-on separately?

I really like the neon and HDR, reminds me of Second Son and I loved that neon power

Shadowsteal35d ago

Miles Morales is not an add-on. It's a standalone title. Also you can get a free PS5 upgrade. So I don't understand what you're pissed about.

Teflon0235d ago

What in the world are you talking about.

Miles is not a add on. It's a completely separate game. If you want that game whether PS4 or PS5 you just buy the regular version. If you want spiderman Remaster you buy the MM deluxe.

ziggurcat35d ago

If you got the PS4 version of MM, you get the PS5 version upgrade for free.

Jin_Sakai35d ago

PS5 version for me also. I’ll be passing on Ray Tracing and swinging through the city at 60fps. Can’t wait!

I tell ya, Miles swinging...looks so darn amazing! And the attention to detail Insomniac has put into this game shows me (not that I expected any less, but really shows me they’re really evolving more and more as a team/studio and I can’t wait to see what not only the finished game looks like for this, but to than see Ratchet and Clank later next year, which is stunning looking alreadyand than Spider-Man 2 at some point in the not too distant future, which I bet will be on another level entirely.

Insomniac isn’t playing around, and I love it =) Sony’s devs, always having fun brining out the best in each other.

My 2080ti is collecting dust while I play Ghost of Tsushima, LOU2, and finish my GoW platinum. For frames PC. For sheer graphics and delivering set-piece blockbusters..still gotta call it for Sony all day long
