Spinch Review (TheSixthAxis)

TSA writes: When Super Meat Boy skidded onto the scene in 2015, it was met with mixed reactions. On one completely degloved hand, you had an excellent platformer that captured the attention with its unique and bizarre premise, but on the other slightly more normal-looking hand, you had players who were immediately repulsed.

Man, Prime games have been getting rougher and rougher. Most of the games they've given out that I've currently got installed were given out months/years ago. Many of the newer games they've offered have either not been terribly exciting, old enough most people who cared to buy the games have bought it, or they've been included in bundles elsewhere many times already. And I even remember they'd occasionally do special things, like Black Friday a few years back they gave out games like Pillars of Eternity and Tyranny. Nothing like that since.

It is a nice bonus of being a Prime member, getting these games, but I think I'd rather they give out 1 decent game every month than the lower quality, kind of scattershot 5 they do now. Then again, if you don't buy too many games you can get solid ones now and again (Void Bastards, Wizards of Legend, etc). But at least for me, personally, haven't gotten a lot in recent memory that's really excited me. Sadly looks the same for this month.

It’s a well known and beloved genre that’s proven to delight gamers with its simple mechanics and often surprisingly challenging levels. The biggest hurdle is finding a way to make your game stand out. Do you have a unique mechanic or do you just have a unique art style that makes your game pop? Spinch from Queen Bee games definitely opts for the latter.
