Baldur's Gate 3: Early Access Character Creation, Opening, And Gameplay

Here is a look at the opening cinematics, character creation and early gameplay from the Early Access version of Baldur’s Gate 3.

I'm one of the early access suckers bought it on gog store. Couldn't resist buying it because of larian studios as the dev

phoenixwing1712d ago (Edited 1712d ago )

I'm still downloading it. I have slow internet takes 1 to 2 days to download a big game

Which is why I don't believe in the streaming future because not everyone lives in a city

I'm so trying to get into larian studio games, i bought diviinity 1 and 2 on steam and then divinity 2 on switch, I just finished the prologue area of the first divinity and am hoping it will hook me.

They're great games in my eyes. I always add the ability that lets you talk to animals. Tons of fun that way lol

you can get that ability in character creation beginning

@phoenixwing

Omg yes i realized this after my first playthrough where i could interact with rats and it told me i didnt have the skill, so i restarted the game. I'm going to push throw and hope there are interesting characters that hook me.

Character creation is not as deep as Black Desert Online (is there a game that is?), but prepare to spend some time on it. Character models look very good when making your character. Gameplay is going to be very deep from what I have played already. Examine a lot and don't be afraid to run early!

Garethvk1712d ago

I have no patience for that. I just want to get in and play. I remember testing ESO; I was in playing and my wife was still working on the look of her character even though we started at the same time.

drunkenspy0071712d ago

sadly, the game plays like the next divinity original sin, not the next baldur's gate game. I wish Obsidian developed, not Larian.

Garethvk1712d ago

Camera angles were an issue for me.

Ratty1712d ago (Edited 1712d ago )

Anyone BUT Larian should have gotten this game. Or no one at all. I'm good with how Throne of Bhaal wrapped things up. Didn't need a sequel at all. Plus it seems to be a sequel in name only. The Baldur's Gate Trilogy was never about the city of Baldur's Gate. You basically spend 5 minutes there in the entire series.

Larian are basically developping Divinity Original Sin 3 and slapping the title "Baldur's Gate 3" on it.

drunkenspy0071711d ago

No one is asking for a sequel, it's about the feel of the original games that is missing. They should have just made DOS 3 instead since it's really what it is.

Rachel_Alucard1712d ago

Kinda hating the damage balance. You get hit twice and you die it feels like.

phoenixwing1712d ago

oh maybe we can leave some feedback on it and they'll update it. I like feeling strong in my rpg's hopefully it's not too skewed toward death.

Garethvk1712d ago

I think they will change stuff.

RyanShutup1711d ago

dude if you're showing it off why not click through the races... that's the most interesting part of any character build. humans for both!? pshhhhh boring.

Baldur’s Gate 3 Is The Kind Of Game That Makes Me Wish I Could Play One Thing At A Time

I respect people who can dig deep on one game, and only one game, but I can't do it.

I used to play multiple games at a time but because of the time constraints I have I don’t have a choice but to play one game at a time or I’ll end up with some unfinished games. I like to get platinums for the games I enjoy the most so it can take me a long time to get to the next game.

It definitely takes some will power as I always have a stack of games I want to play at all times. But most of the games I play are really good and I am fully immersed when I’m playing a single game at a time.

raWfodog21d ago (Edited 21d ago )

Same here. I’ll focus on a game that I really enjoy and get the most out of it before moving onto the next title. That is why I have a massive backlog of games now.

Armaggedon22d ago (Edited 22d ago )

Same for me. I play so many games, currently playing oblivion, expedition, blades of fire, bg3 with friends , avowed, and Nioh 2. After learning more about myself and gaining mastery, I have developed an ability to get fulfillment from a game without needing to “complete” it. Unless of course, a game hooks me for the story, in which case I have to complete it to see what happens. I have discovered that in terms of gameplay, one can get most if not all of the expected experience in about 25% of progress through play.

Ninver21d ago

Sounds like renting is the best way to go in your case. No point in buying games you won't complete.

Armaggedon21d ago (Edited 21d ago )

It depends on what one deems as “complete.” For some, it is completing the story, and for others it is completing all tasks and objectives. Usually when this happens, people will feel “that was fun, whats next.” There is always a whats next. Cant think of anyone that has consumed media and thought “I am completely satisfied and will not need to play or watch another. I have simply mastered this “hunger” if you will. I am able to get so far in a game and then move to another without needing to reach a certain requirement. A benefit of this is that I do not get bored, as that game I didn’t beat still has mystries to unravel and new things I haven’t done.
