Looking back to 2010 and Ninja Theory’s Oriental-Inspired Enslaved: Odyssey to the West

Richard writes: "Boasting talents such as Andy Serkis, Nitin Sawhney and Alex Garland, and coming from an up and coming studio in the form of Ninja Theory, Enslaved: Odyssey to the West should have spawned a franchise. It was however not to be. Though extremely well-received, sales figures did not meet expectations. As such, Enslaved is remembered fondly by those that played it, but that is the only legacy it has. With time coming around to its tenth anniversary, we take a look back at another forgotten classic."

porkChop967d ago

I think if they had any plans for it we'd have gotten a new game by now.

They'll probably keep working on God of War though. Seems to be going to well for them so far.

Such a crappy game compared to heavenly sword. Bad combat, lake characters, bad platforming. Such a waste of time me playing this back then lol

Knushwood Butt967d ago

I remember the demo. Button mashing combat and flashing ledges / autopilot platforming.

NEXUS-6967d ago

I didn't even finish the demo, that's how dull it was.

J-DARKnes967d ago

Fully agree, Trip was such an annoying character... was definitely a step back in terms of combat, characters and art style compared to heavenly sword.

blackblades967d ago

It was fine to me would love a sequel to finish it.

I enjoyed it, an interesting story (although the ending was a bit of an anticlimax).

Such an underrated game a sleeper hit I enjoyed ever minute of this game I thought it was great wish there was a sequel.

LoveSpuds967d ago (Edited 967d ago )

Yeah, I remember really enjoying it and I especially recall liking how the relationship developed between the main characters. I really liked the art design too, it was nice and vibrant compared to all the brown games doing the rounds at the time. While the combat was a little 'button mashy', you could actually string some good combos together.

RememberThe357966d ago

They way they wrote those characters made the simple combat worth it. Never seen a video game relationship developed so well.

Petebloodyonion967d ago

Quite a hidden gem.
I hope that Ninja Theory can make a spiritual sequel for Gamepass or remaster the game so ppl can play it.

Knightofelemia966d ago (Edited 966d ago )

Microsoft owns Ninja Theory but who is to say the ip transferred over with that purchase the owner of the Enslaved ip might be Namco.
