Marvel's Spider-Man Director Receives Threats Following Peter Parker PS5 Recast

This week, PlayStation and Insomniac Games revealed Marvel's Spider-Man: Remastered for the PS5, and in the process revealed that Peter Parker, or more specifically the face model for the character, had been recast due to motion capture issues with the original face model.

The problem is people seem surprised by this.

It's like they forgot that the internet is open to absolutely everyone of almost any age and maturity level.

Many people do not have filters and are not aware of what is appropriate and what is not. They treat the internet like a joke. They don't think what they say could have consequences. Everyone automatically assumes that it is adults sending these threats. I wouldn't be surprised if it's just a bunch of teenagers.

If everyone took every threat recieved online seriously alot of people would be like sat in safe rooms with round the clock police guards lol unless there is a reason to believe this is credible its best to ignore it. With signs that its credible being stuff like a photo of your house or detailed information on your movements etc.

Yeah, have to agree, some people just shouldn't be allowed to be on the internet. If you threat someone over anything (either physical violence, mental one or financial), you should be disavoved and not be listen to anymore. I mean, i didn't like the original face of Peter Parker in this game, he looked too generic to me. But i got used to it. Same with this remodeled face, he also looks too generic.
I think, to please both sides, they should just add an option in gameplay settings «Peter Parker's face» with «Original» and «Remastered». They have the facial data for both faces, including mocap, it shouldn't be a monumental task, imo.

I was going to say Tomb Raider had dozens of model changes and voice actresses. different from each game.
(TR 2013 and Definitive edition also have different lara faces.)
but It's possible changing a character's face may have an impact to existing gamers of the original game.
only other game i can remember that re-casted a main character was Quantum Break, but this was during production.
i guess it is a big deal though for fans.

The quote "every movie is someone's favorite movie" comes to mind in these kinds of situations. When someone truly loves something, they can get irrational. Even those irrational people would denounce a death threat, but a small percentage of those irrational people are simply off the deep end...and have access to the Internet. First Last of Us 2 and now this I hate the look of the new Peter Parker I think he looks more realistic in the PS4 version but I am not going to send death threats to a guy doing his job. Who is to say he was the one that said change the face of Peter Parker it could have been someone higher up then him.
