Xbox Series X and S pre-orders have forced Amazon, Best Buy, and more to go down due to high demand for the next-gen Xbox consoles.

One disadvantage of knowing when pre-orders would open is that scalpers would know exactly when to activate their bots. I hope it doesn't happen, but I'm sure we'll see a few "people selling Xbox Series X for $5,000" articles.

@VerminSC Technically, they're not selling an item that can't be shipped though. They're selling the pre-order "ticket", which they can immediately honor by changing the delivery address to the buyer's, thus not TECHNICALLY breaking rules there. They also get around accusations of price gouging both due to those numbers being "standard" for the item, or by including that "Or Best Offer" option, thus implying price flexibility, thus technically not gouging, but setting a starting price for "negotiation".

It sucks, but they know their loopholes. -_-

I don't get it to be honest, I get every console at launch and have since the N64, but I won't he worrying about it FOR PS5 or XBSX because there really is so little reason to buy either at launch, the improvements over the pro and one X (have both) are not too terribly massive and basically all the games are still hitting the previous gen for now, with slight res boosts and few extra features.

My only guess can be is the Pre-order shortage is either manufactured to create hype, or I am really out of touch on these new consoles.

Same, had it queued up on bestbuy @ 0455 HST. But it didnt actually go up for pre-order until 0600. And i was stuck at the checkout for almost an hour. No luck.

I had a super hard time on Target getting one because of the traffic load but was finally able to get one. I feel like the way the site was operating that ot might be a glitch and my order might get canceled later. Amazon didn't open up orders here until almost 9am. So I was able to get a backup just in case the target order falls through. I had a similar situation with Target when the PSVR came out.

Ebay was full of scalped consoles within two minutes of it going live. Bots destroyed this pre-order, and crashed Walmart's website for a bit.
Amazon seems to be selling in waves though, I got one at 12PM EST.

A lot more stock will become available before launch. Btw both xbox one and ps4 sold I million within 24 hours I think it's safe to assume both will do double that if not more within 48-72 hours

I managed to snag one off of Amazon but i really wanted the $35 a month plan through MS. If i can manage to make that happen before launch day i will just cancel my other pre order. Just remember yall, even if you have a pre order in you have to pray it doesn't get canceled for some reason. I have had this happen to me in the past, especially from Amazon. i was lucky enough to get one through gamestop.com but a buddy of mine was not as lucky. thought i was going to be able to snag one through best buy bc it said the item was in my cart and when i clicked checkout my cart was magically empty. i am still waiting on the chance to get a ps5. i had been logged on since 8am est. i hope everyone that wants one is able to get one when they want it. best of luck guys and gals.

DO NOT attempt to buy this via All Access, you'll never find a console. They limit stock on those units and so if you really want one at launch, best bet is buy via normal checkout. Managed to snag a Series X through Microsoft's retail page

I just gave up. I was on Best Buy, MS Amazon Target sites for two hours as soon as they went live and could get to check out but could not check out, now they all say sold out. This was awful. How MS allowed this to happen baffles me.

On best buy, it would give you the option to build a bundle. Once you finally get to click on a Series X, quickly add something, ANYTHING to it that is on the list (Cyberpunk was the 2nd item down), and try to checkout. It appears that when you bundle it with another item, it goes through quicker.

I had to go into to a GameStop waiting room online to get mines. It was actually a good way of doing it. They make you wait in a virtual waiting room to buy the console. That bad part was that there was only Series X bundles left so I had to spend over $800 to get one but at least I got it.

I have tried for hours today, and no luck! I decided to go with Series X. The Bethesda deal shows me Microsoft is ALL IN next gen! PS5 is going to be amazing, but Xbox is going to have some fantastic exclusives, with Bethesda. Smart Delivery, Game Pass 1st party day 1. It is just more appealing to me right now.

I will totally be jealous of those who have PS5 though. Next year I will get one.

The whole preorder for both systems has been a mess.

Games are more popular than ever and since they won't hold release parties in stores, the battleground is 100% online.

Not to mention that with most people working from home, anyone can spend 30 minutes at 10:00 fighting for a new system.

In Japan EVERYTHING is sold out. You can't even get a PS4/Pro at a decent price now...and good luck finding a Switch.

To be fair, Amazon didn't go live until around 8:45am PST (for me at least) and Best Buy shortly after. Both sites were nowhere near as bad as they were last week during the PS5 fiasco, probably because most people probably though the sites were down and systems sold out. Got 1 from Amazon around 8:45 for my brother. Me? Got one from the MS store, but it took 17 minutes. After the long loads and errors the site started telling me I hit my limit. Couldn't check the cart or anything. Opened a new browser, went to the MS store front page, and went to the cart, sure enough, it was there. Order went fairly quickly from there, but if I went back the the other tab, from the xbox page I couldn't check the cart or even my account.

Pre-ordered both the Xbox Series X and PS5 from Walmart without any issue (no bot required). I don’t think Walmart draws as much attention as the other sites mentioned, which is why I got lucky. I was definitely not one of the first to snag the PS5 and only snagged one later in the evening. I completed the checkout process for the Xbox within 2 minutes of pre-orders opening. The pre-order pages for the other sites were dead even before pre-orders opened. Probably got crushed by bot traffic. Not sure if Walmart has some type of countermeasure in place for bots.

It's an insanely impressive system to have 20% more raw GPU power out of substandard clock rate over the PS5 is insanely impressive.

If that was a video card you'd be looking at the difference between the 2070 and 2080 that's a huge financial difference in video cards
