Xbox Series X sells out in 20 minutes on Amazon UK

Xbox Series X sold out in less than 20 minutes on Amazon UK, with other stores also struggling to meet demand.

Preorders for Microsoft’s most powerful console began at a little after 8am, instantly crashing the Amazon page when it appeared.

Got mine from Amazon at 8.15am. Absolute nightmare, kept crashing, then after multiple refreshes it worked. Tried at xbox store got to checkout and it crashed, then wouldn't let me add it again saying I had reached my maximum order amount... useless, but very happy I got one.

I had Smyths and Game open, just out of interest. Smyths crashed and then said it had run out of every Xbox type (including the One S), while Game still has me in a queue. In "more than an hour" I might be eligible for All Access, but something tells me it'll just load into a 505 error.

To be fair, I got a PlayStation 5 with literally no effort last week. Loaded page, added it into basket. I should've known it wouldn't be that easy twice in a row.

Same, I also got the maximum amount thing. I think it means there is a limit to the amount you can spend in one transaction. There must be some spending limit set on the account somewhere. I didn't want to spend the time researching how to remove it. I just went to amazon app on my phone because the desktop site was crashed.

I queued at game got there 35mins early, reasonable size queue by 8am about 50/60 people, asked the manager how many he and with a panicked face he said only 30 series X thought we would have more, good luck to that poor guy turning the rest away.
Went in day before and his friend at the till (very pro playstation) said I bet we will still have them at 11am sold out of ps5 around 11 no rush we should have around 100.
Incidentally he said they had 60 ps5s. No mention of series s.
So just off that store twice as many ps5s to preorder so much for shortages on ps5 eh.

I was in a queue at Currys at 8AM and there was 150k people in front of me, luckily I got one through Argos. So I would guess between 350-600k between all the stores easy?

not really. Amazon is instantly out of anything that has limited availability. Be it a game or console. I can refresh the page every 5 minutes all night once a new CE is announced or, yeah, PS5 pre-orders are going up and by the time I finally pull a product page, "Currently Unavailable"

But yes, it would be nice to know exactly how many each retailer was allotted.

not sure about uk but was at local gamestop yesterday. its a big store in the district an the manager said they got 12 ps5s for the initial preorder. 8 were disc version an 4 digital. she got her numbers for xbox for today an they got 6. 4 are series x an 2 are series s.

Looking great for MS! with the bethesda aquisition, it probably made the decision easier for some.

I'm still getting a PS5, but I welcome the new Android GamePass cloud for letting me play lots of games that I never was able to experience before (Forza Horizon 4 especially!). Very impressed by the very low input latency (there's definitly some lag, but mostly negligable for singleplayer games)

They won't get a hardware purchase from me, but they'll surely get a gamepass subscription from time to time. Even more so with Bethesda games now included.

Let me explain the joke, it means that at first instance selling out all units in 20 minutes sounds great, but then I said, in character, it's not actually so good if you only had 19 units -which means they weren't even been sold at the rate of one a minute! Maybe not that funny but that bad either. But why take the joke to be an attack and get so angry? I had friends miss out on getting a xsx console in a lot of ways I think the advanced warning was counter productive and bots managed to snap up all the available units prior to their sale to actual consumers.

It's possibly.the only reason I managed to get a ps5 because there was no warning and no bots ready to target the ps5 I placed my order about 30inutes after pre orders went live and secured one.

I had a friend try and place an order at 8am for the xsx and they were sold out already.

Why do you care about how many downvoted you received? I don’t get why some people focus so much on that. It happens, like people basically disagreeing with you. If no one’s tearing into you like a keyboard warrior with awful insults (consider yourself lucky) but also, if someone does mention how unnecessary they feel it is for you to have bought 5 XSX’s for your 5 kids between the ages of 14-19, some of their reasons could be fair, like why don’t you just buy 1 or 2, since you say you game on PC, and then have the 5 kids share the 1 or 2 consoles? You know, I’m not gonna crap on you, but I can see why others would be upset, especially with how difficult it is to secure pre orders at the moment. You put it out there, bud, and unfortunately this is what can happen.
