Sony has announced God of War Ragnarok! The trailer was revealed as the capper to today's PS5 showcase event.

Ben Dover1316d ago

solideagle1316d ago

I wish they could have shown in game Kratos Model :p

FATAL1TY1316d ago

GOW Ragnarok + $399 = Fatality!

TripleAAARating1316d ago

People, if Demon's Souls remake looks THAT friggin good.................... there is no imagining what Ragnarok would look like 😰.... I'm scared...

bouzebbal1316d ago

PS5 starting really......like REAAAALLLY strong!!! Number of confirmed high quality games is just staggering 😲

pwnmaster30001316d ago

This really surprised me. Out of no where.

zackeroniii1316d ago

LMFAOO!!!

cory barlog really took 3 years to make a sequel to god of war 2018 it's really insane.

he either was already working on it alongside GOW 2018 or he just started work on it immediately after GOW 2018.

either way Cory is an instant legend for this!

just...WOWZERZZZ

the competition doesn't stand a chance and the generation didn't even start yet JUST WOW

darthv721316d ago

i think I recall him saying all the time to create the PS4 version was based around building a foundation that future iterations of the game could be built on. Thus the groundwork for making the PS5 version was already available by the time the PS4 one was wrapping up. So they would be able to churn out the sequel in less time and with more fidelity.

bouzebbal1316d ago

Yes we're still trying to recover from this year's rhythm of exclusives from Sony that they are willing to smash the next gen before it starts.. PS4 was revealed with killzone only.. Competition couldn't stand a chance.. Now with what we saw and what was revealed until now and good of War in 2021already is incredible commitment

ME TOO MAN ME TOO. I JUST BOUGHT THIS KEYBOARD TOO!

medman1315d ago

Given that God of War came out in 2018 and we're getting Ragnorok in 2021, along with Horizon Forbidden West, I think it's fairly safe to assume the new God of War will be cross gen just as Horizon is. It's not ideally what I want, but I will play the hell out of both of those games and enjoy them anyway. I really don't understand how Sony got some of their marketing wrong though. They implicitly stated they believed in generations and that ps5 games would not be cross gen, but it appears that at least for games releasing in 2020 and 2021, that is not the case. Hard to understand how they screwed that up given how long games take to develop...they would have known all along they were being co-developed for ps4 and ps5.

I called it but 2021 OMG! so pumped up for GOW.

RememberThe3571316d ago

What you follow Barlog on Twitter too?

Sitdown1316d ago

I don't think you called it, you said all they need to do is show it, calling it would mean saying, they are going to show it. Then on top of that, the internet didn't melt down. Soo....

AngelicIceDiamond1316d ago

It will be joining Forbidden West also come 2021. Another year another games domination.

Zodiac1316d ago (Edited 1316d ago )

Will this really be 2021 if by the end of 2020 all they can tell us is that it exists? Bayo 3 and Metroid Prime 4 vibes. Would have to be by the end of 2021 at the very least.

mkis0071316d ago (Edited 1316d ago )

They already have so much shown for 2021...I think a teaser is perfect for hype generation. The fact they made that teaser date with the current climate in the world means they probably will hit it.

--Onilink--1316d ago

This barely counts as a teaser trailer. Its a logo trailer, just as dumb of a trailer as it was with Metroid Prime 4 and just slightly worse than the still horrible cgi trailers like the ones used in the xbox conference

You knew gow2 was coming before this trailer and after this trailer you know exactly the same (other than a vague 2021 date which given Sony’d track record, will be pushed back -and the game will be better for it so no complains there-)

RememberThe3571316d ago

You already forgot Horizon is set for 2021 too? How much you wanna bet we're getting Horizon in spring/early summer and GoW in fall/early winter?

And all we know is what they've shown. We have no clue what they "can" show. If it's slated for next year the game is probably already playable from start to finish.

LOGICWINS1316d ago

Is this Part 2 or an expansion?

amazingmax71316d ago

It's most likely a new game. So yeah, Part 2.

-Ghost1316d ago

Definitely part 2 towards this new trilogy

LOGICWINS1316d ago

Wow! Then what Cerny said about the PS5 cutting dev time is true then!

AnnaDea1316d ago

Cory Balrog said the next one will not take 5 years to make.

GoW was released in April 2018.

RightFootGames1312d ago

I can see through your sarcasm that's my downvote.

You realize that tons of games get yearly releases, so why are you acting like 3.5-4 years to make a sequel is so outrageous?

Gamerking821316d ago

Nice loved the remake. So 2021 so with all the expected delays about a 2023 release date.

Gamerking821316d ago

Don’t know why the downvotes , do u chums really think it’s coming neat year ?. Oh bless ya all .

Gamerking821316d ago (Edited 1316d ago )

Look I am a huge ps fan . But by the downvoted a guess you all are attached to Sony by the teets. Suck away nerds suck away . But still NO WAy God Of war next year . Look at this gen for an eye watering example ! .

RaidenBlack1315d ago

It a Reboot sort of, definitely not Remake.

I flat out just don’t believe that…….you need a rouguelite to make you want to replay one of the best games of the generation? Riiiigghhht

Rainbowcookie107d ago

People just need any reason whatsoever to create a story ...4 the clicks

Abnor_Mal107d ago (Edited 107d ago )

“ It's a great excuse to jump back into the fray with videogame’s second favorite Spartan.”

So you’re saying that the game Hades and its star character, never played it, are bigger more well known and liked than Kratos and the God of War series?

Armyofdarkness107d ago (Edited 107d ago )

He obviously means Kassandra, right?

Gamehard107d ago

I don't think the MC from Hades is a spartan though. Not 100% sure, but yeah I don't know of any other spartan game character that's more popular than Kratos.

Psychonaut85107d ago

Im guessing he’s speaking more broadly and is referring to Master Chief as the most popular “Spartan”

Abnor_Mal107d ago (Edited 107d ago )

That’s likely who it is, I don’t if Master Chief can be considered a “true” Spartan like Kratos lol.

Master Chief Spartan label is just a rank given in the Halo military, sorry not a Halo gamer so I have no clue what their army is called in the game.

But is Master Chief really more popular as a Spartan, interesting question.
