Digital Foundry's review of the RTX 3080, the first Ampere graphics card and one that delivers incredible performance - with some limitations.
This is a good run down. Gamers Nexus also does great break downs.
They do, theirs is up https://www.youtube.com/wat...
That guy is great. Love his case reviews that analyze airflow and show internal temperatures. Really knows his stuff.
Absolutely does, you could never complain they lack detail!
Good content. All meat no bone.
Next generation has finally start and I can't wait to get my 3080
I trust Gamers Nexus more.
Same here. Digital foundry can get in the shill at times.
Impressive performance, hopefully people can actually pick it up at MSRP / RRP!
I bought a gtx 1080 about three years ago. To think that three years later I'll be TRIPLING my performance for a couple hundred more than I paid for three years ago, that's crazy to me. I just sold my 1080 for $300 on eBay BTW, so it's like a $400 upgrade for me and it still includes a $60 game, so $340! That's amazing.
Well the 1080 is almost four and a half years old. Obviously a brand new card from a higher price tier should provide a huge boost at that point, but I'm not sure where you are getting the triple performance part from. From what I've seen it looks more like 2x at 1440p and 2.5x at 4k on average. That is with trying to minimize other bottlenecks as much as possible. How much of a performance boost you'll get will depend on the rest of your system, the resolution you play on and obviously the game you're playing, but if you're expecting to triple your framerate you're gonna get disappointed.
@batman - it's from this article. Hit Next to get to the benchmarks, and I selected 4K since that's my resolution, and the frame rates are darn near 3X comparing 1080 to 3080. Check out DF's bench...
What a great card. It will be great addition for my upgrade when it becomes more affordable. :)
Praying the silicon gods are smiling on me tomorrow when I *attempt* to order one.
i'll be right there with you. How long of a window do you think we'll have?
That's a good question. Not even sure when the "window" will open. I feel like I need to start refreshing order pages at midnight. Looks like I picked the wrong week to quit amphetamines.
Well I'm happy with that test as that's the exact build I'm buying, Cyberpunk 2077 full RTX here I come!!!
That RTX fps boost, very nice.
As expected Nvidia overpromised again, even though they have a good product this time. 1440p performance boosts are inconsistent, but at 4k the 3080 seems like a good card if the price holds true. I'm curious to see how boardpartner cards will compare. It seems like Nvidia put a lot of effort into the Founders Edition this time so it's possible that AIB cards won't have much room for improvement left. The only bigger gripe I have with this card is it's power consumption. I wonder how Ampere cards would've looked like in an alternate reality where Nvidia chose TSMC's 7nm.
I'll probably hit the buy button on one tomorrow for 1440p gaming. Also that bright memory benchmark looks so good graphically
Lol @ everyone that rush sold their 2080ti before benchmarks came out.
