Did it? I mean, that wasn't the greatest gameplay I have seen, it was as basic as it gets. Jog, one enemy appears, block, then you kill enemy with one hit, rinse and repeat. I'm sure there is more to it than that, but from what we seen, it was far from being "so freaking good"

The thing is, there really isn't anything they could show to make people who have refused to play the game for the last 11 years - despite hearing how good it was and the genre it spawned - make them excited to play it now. People already know what the gameplay is and gamers have experienced. These trailers are to show of the improvements made in the remastered version of the game.

Also, it is clear that you haven't played ANY of the Soulsborne games if you think "jog, one enemy appears, block, then you kill enemy with one hit, rinse and repeat" on the way to the boss is not a good representation of what the game is. In every section of every game that is what the gameplay is. The point is that that isn't your first experience through the level. Everything becomes like that as you are forced to repeat and memorize things as you attempt to defeat the boss (Dark Souls 2 tried to change it but nobody wants to remember that bad idea).

Demon Souls is a punishing and technical gamer's game. Not for everyone, but I enjoyed the original so will pick this up when I get to PS5 land.

Just think of it as when you buy PS5, all those games are added to your PS+ list of games. It's not BC, it's just adding titles to your existing subscription so you can experience them on PS5 as well.

This is similar to how on GWG you get old and new titles. The old titles aren't the only way to buy and play BC games.

I was actually surprised that they got to $399 with the all digital console. Makes me wonder why I would buy the disc console because if I just look at it from a cost to manufacturer vs cost I pay the better value is the digital console by a significant margin (Around $80).

Depends on how many games you buy and if the console is your primary gaming device. I'm a primarily PC gamer, but am also a multiconsole player a well. I only own consoles for their hardware exclusives, so this gen I'm thinking it might be fine to go all digital - I can already wait for official sales on tentpole exclusives to hit $20-30, and that happens on digital and physical simultaneously - and with Sony, pretty predictably.

Now, if it was my primary gaming device? Digital games never get as cheap as physical games in general, but if they do it almost always takes longer. And you are at the mercy of Sony directing store sales, rather than a myriad of retailers fighting for your money and eating in to margins. You also lose out on the potential for used games, which can be significant.

Also, if you are going to use the backwards compatibility on PS5 for your PS4 titles, if you have a large selection of physical PS4 games then you need the drive. And then there's some mild value add with the UHD Blu Ray drive, assuming that appeals to you at all, since even cheap standalone players cost in the $180-200 range.

I think all digital might at least be worth considering for me this gen, but in general I would probably pay for a disc based console.

I buy a lot of games. Have been only doing digital purchases for over 10 years now. Once I left retail I never looked back. I buy most of my games on digital sales of 75+% off. I have a massive back catalogue so waiting for the good digital prices is no big deal. Have continually spent less and less total money per year on games but still have almost all the latest and greatest.

In my mind Horizon was a late 2021 title so who knows. Sony seems to have enough big titles early in the gen that they might have trouble spacing them out. Spider-Man, Ratchet, Horizon and God of War all in the same year seems crazy for a launch year. Who knows when Demon's Souls and Gran Turismo are aimed to release. FFXVI is probably further out though.

Cheaper than SX with full PS5 power, almost 3x more powerful than XSS for 100 more only.

Read and article stating than PS5 manufacturing cost is 450, so seems like there is not some much money lost by Sony at launch.

That’s a very good thing, and a proof that affordable next gen consoles is possible without sacrificing compute power as MS is desperately trying to convince the community.
