THQ Nordic's Reinhard Pollice talks on Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning reigniting the franchise and explains its 38 Studios MMORPG origins.
I loved the first game and I do hope that it gets the fame it deserves, but I don't think this remaster will be really effective in doing that. It barely improved over the original game, so those who already owned it won't see many reasons to buy the remaster, and for new players it looks and feels like an old game. From what I've seen, the small changes were in lighting, loot and enemies levels, all which can be emulated through mods on the original game. Even I, who can get it for 60% off now for owning the original version on Steam, am still trying to decide if I buy it to support the franchise or if I just play the original game again.
I totally understand where you're coming from. But also, isn't it coming out with a brand new expansion? I think that might be reason enough to pick it up, especially at a 60% discount.
They gave the graphics a coat of paint, and that's about it. They should have worked on the loading times. Besides that this is still a phenomenal game, I recently just found an area I had never been to before, which is amazing Because I played the hell out of the original and never found it until now. The way you can fluidly move between primary, secondary, magic, potions, and spells is still amazing to me no other game does it as well as this.
I missed this game last gen so I bought it this past Thursday & though it looks a little dated I'm enjoying it so far.
Hope it works I loved the game on my 360, I'd love to see more done with that IP
I liked the first game but i was really hoping for a second chapter with all the new things and a follow up of the story.
Release a game that didn't do significantly well originally, update it only modestly, and then look at sales of lackluster port as to whether or not a sequel should be had. The game deserves a sequel. You aren't going to get the metrics of that via this low effort port, however.
That’s half of why I bought the remaster, to show that we the fans want more. Same reason I bought the Darksiders remasters.
