Microsoft blinked first, revealing its Xbox launch details this week. Of note, the software giant is releasing two tiers of devices at different price points. It’s an unprecedented move, but will it pay off? I am not sure.
I see series s as a super casual console. For people who don’t really game much and in it just for a quick pick me up. Cheap price and game pass. Tbh it looks like they were really aiming series s to be more of a streaming console with a low storage. I can definitely see people do more streaming games then actually downloading it. Either a smart move by MS to push game pass or coincidence.
well, they needed to do something different considering they don't have the games yet to back the console up. so instead they went for the gamepas focus. so I wouldn't be surprised they actually did have this in mind when discussing the S series. indeed consdiering there options not a bad move. still they probaly will have a slow start becuase of the lack of games even have the feeling the S serie will get pretty close to the main serie in amount sold. atleast if you read peoples comments that seems to be most peoples go to. get a ps5 for the exclusive and the serie s for the gamepass with pc combo. this is a bit for the hardcore gamers though. i am getting a ps5 first and wait if the xbox gets more intresting later on in exclusives.
If it's just for Gamepass and you have any PC, why bother? If it's just for Gamepass and you have a One S or One X, why bother? If you want new Xbox, series x, but even then, with no games for 2 years you can't already play, why bother?
If it's just for Gamepass and you have any PC, why bother? Well I have 3 pcs but none of them are very powerful so won't run games very well. A lot of ppl prefer a console to messing with a pc. If it's just for Gamepass and you have a One S or One X, why bother? Well an Xbox Series S is only £249. It is more powerful than a One X & S plus load times will be super fast. You could sell your X or S & not pay a lot to upgrade. Plus a lot of your existing games will look better. If you want new Xbox, series x, but even then, with no games for 2 years you can't already play, why bother? The no games thing is ridiculous, a friend of mine who's a die hard Sony fan was totally taken aback after lending him my One X with gamepass. He thought there has to be a catch & couldn't believe the value & how many games are on gamepass. He's pre ordering an Xbox Series S just to have Gamepass.
^ @Easily, I totally agree with the first sentence in each of your paragraphs. My third point, though, was that if you already have an xbox, you already have a Gamepass machine AND access to all Microsoft games for the next 2 years. This is why I'll re-evaluate in 2 years. See if there are any next gen games I'm interested in and if the price reduction the series x will have seen by then is enough to tempt me to buy.
@sully But not all third party exclusives like the medium or scorn are on x1, but they will be in game pass. You still need the next gen xbox for certain games even with game pass
The dude who wrote this article has a long twitter thread slandering Microsoft's decision behind the Series S while quoting a bunch of different developers who are also unhappy about the Series S. They're claiming that it will cause them to do extra work and the RAM might end up being a bottleneck
Agree Bloomberg been doing a hit piece on ms.
You don’t realize with what it is you are agreeing.
If he is quoting devs who know what they are talking about, rather than MS fans who just blindly say "scalability" or "it's a 1440p console, and resolution will be the only difference," the piece isn't slander. At worst it's a reasonably-informed opinion.
Damn Bloomberg and another negative hit piece article lol them and forbes been putting out negative shit on xbox non stop.
i mean, if thats all they do, why not call them out on it ?
Series S is a gamepass console for people who reject game ownership but would rather have a collection of 100 games with some of them new xbox titles that stay there for 6 months
