I'm not a fan of Apple by any means, but I do hope they kick Epics ass.

SamPao82d ago

that really makes no sense. You wont win ANYTHING if apple wins. If epic wins at least we will have a more open platform.

How would you feel if they would want to lower your salary?

SamPao82d ago

@boing1 as a gamedeveloper? my salary would actually go up if apple loses, so why would I not fight for that?
as a gamer, you have NOTHING to win here, you would JUST LOSE if apple wins.

boing182d ago (Edited 82d ago )

It's an analogy. Apple is fighting for their own money and Epic wants to lower their salary. So how would you feel if your client would suddenly demand for you to start earning less for the same amount of work, even though he was ok with it at the beginning? Would you agree or would you told them to f*** off? Apple build whole ecosystem from scratch and now someone from outside is trying to tell them how they should run their business. Don't you see a problem here?

SamPao82d ago

And in your analogy the only winner is APPLE. Of course I would not want to loose if I was apple, that would be stupid.
BUT, since from my first comment all I said that AS A GAMER, there is no point in wanting Apple to win.

boing182d ago (Edited 82d ago )

Because I think they should win. What Epic did was wrong and should be punished. Do I think Apple is taking too much? Of course. But they earned the right to dictate how they run their own store because they BUILD IT, along with devices it's running on. If you don't like it, publish somewhere else.

BlackTar18782d ago

Apple hasn't earned the right to anything, what the hell are you talking about?

boing182d ago (Edited 82d ago )

So the AppStore and whole iOS ecosystem was made out of thin air, or created by some magical entity and not Apple through the course of years? I didn't know. Then why stop there? Let's fight for everything to be free on the AppStore, even if it's paid. Let's take all the money from them because they don't have the right to anything, even though they created it.

JackBNimble82d ago (Edited 82d ago )

It's apple's platform, if you want open go to pc and use android on your phone.
Only Apple's software only runs on Apple's hardware, it's pretty cut and dry.

JackBNimble82d ago (Edited 82d ago )

Do you really think if Epic won that they would give that money to their dev's?

SamPao82d ago

@JackBNimble BUT DUDE its not about EPIC, if they win EVERY DEVELOPER CAN DECIDE! That is the whole point in this!

It was just a matter of time before they did this. This just leveled up.

Kind of odd to see a breach of contract suit for a matter such as this though. The contract was terminated by Apple already when they pulled the game. Yes, Epic did break the rules, but the contracts you sign with Apple state they will just pull your license should you do that. Apple has the right to sue under their contracts, but the matter was already settled by Apple.

Maybe Apple is going off the arbitration clause that all ToS have, which isn't really legally binding unless agreed upon, although a court may say that that has to be done before it can be heard by a judge.

The only other thing I can think of is that maybe since Epic was more prolific they had a more detailed contract with Apple, but as far as I can tell, the whole matter seems to be centered around standard boilerplate license agreements that all devs agree to when putting their game on the store.

I tend to think tencent decided to do this, you cant push apple around like them or not. Apple will take on the fbi, but epic/tencent think they have a chance?
