Crusader Kings 3 Review - IGN

From IGN: "Crusader Kings 3 is a superb strategy game, a great RPG, and a master class in how to take the best parts of existing systems and make them deeper and better. I have thousands of hours in the previous game, and I expect to spend at least that many in this third installment. All of the engrossingly flawed characters and stories of love, war, triumph, and loss that have already dynamically emerged from my playthroughs feel like just the beginning of something legendary. In fact, if I had to pick only one game to play for the rest of my life, the decision wouldn’t be that difficult. A new king of historical strategy has been crowned. Long live the king."

lelo2play1727d ago

Holy crap... a 10 for Crusader Kings 3.

Felix_Argyle_Catbro1726d ago

Yeah, from 1 person. Why do you people always flock to these reviews? They are always written by 1 (one) singular person. IGN, Gamespot, whatever have 1 reviewer for 1 game.

People who still pay any attention to game reviews are on a level of a child who needs random people to tell them what to like or not to like.

This person is not you. He doesn't share your worldviews or opinions. Paying any attention to his subjective opinion is just stupid.

MTVBG1726d ago

If paying attention to someone's subjective opinion is stupid, then you voicing your subjective opinion online has to take it to some new level of completely fucking moronic.

fiveby91726d ago

I'm not a huge fan of IGN. That said, I'd watch the review and if the person reviewing has some history and knowledge of the genre I might give their review more credence. This reviewer says they played CK3 for over 100 hours for the review. At least they played the game. Certainly better than throwing some random writer at a game which they have little interest in playing and expecting thoughtful commentary. It's one person's opinion sure but not necessarily an ill informed opinion.

starsi3601726d ago

Wow. Opinions of others are important to some. Just because you like to spend money to find out if something is good or bad, some of us like to have a heads up from others.

Also, why did you type "1 (one) singular person". Just curious as it seems like you could have just said "one person" and no-one would have misunderstood...

MTVBG1726d ago (Edited 1726d ago )

Their viewpoint is "if they don't share your worldview or opinions, don't pay attention". This is what their comment literally says, anyway.

So if we don't agree, why should we pay attention to them? Why do we even look at the comments section of anything? Why partake in any conversation ever? Why come to N4G?

The reasons why their comment is stupid are legion. And if you check their comment history you can see that they're basically a hot-take machine who recently made one of the most ratio'd comments I've ever seen on this site (and who, by the way, has spammed this same reply to several people in this comment section, which reeks not just of stupidity but some strange desperation or even mental disturbance).

If they're not some low-level troll then they either don't sleep at night, disturbed by the knowledge that everyone thinks they're that dumb, or they're *actually* that dumb and thus don't care.

In any one of these three cases, they themselves are on the level of a child on which they accuse others of being. It's embarrassing to witness, frankly.

Cant wait to play this tomorrow. Paradox, it seems you learned from your mistakes, *cough* Imperator: Rome *cough*

kopko1727d ago

If you have tried to play CK II but it was too hard for you to get into it, try this one, they made the game so much easier to get into. CK III is also available on PC game pass day 1 release.

Rocosaurus1727d ago

Coming to Gamepass (on PC) tomorrow - September 1st.

Ok..IGN Is too liberal with their scores. This game is as good as god of war and tlou? Common

JackBNimble1727d ago (Edited 1727d ago )

I agree ign are to liberal,God of war and Tlou2 didn't deserve the scores they received.

BlackTar1871727d ago

you're right GoW deserved at least a 12/10

IGN’s 10s has lost their value after GTA IV got one

PixelOmen1727d ago

Not that I agree with this score, I haven't played the game, but that's not how the scores work at all.

KwietStorm_BLM1727d ago

I don't get how people still make this inaccurate interpretation of review scores. You do understand that a Ferrari Enzo and a Honda Civic coupe can both be a '10' right? Even though they are both cars, they both excel at what they do in totally different ways and in completely different classes of vehicle. A great horror movie doesn't mean it's as "good" as a great social documentary just because they both have the same score on metacritic. It just means they both accomplished what they set out to do with a high level of quality. At the end of the day, it's just a number. Get over it.

Skywalker3331727d ago

Its like comparing apples and burgers. Both are edible foods but comparing a single player action adventure with a hardcore strategy is just plain wrong.

Bladesfist1727d ago

I bet the people who enjoy these games will have fun playing this much longer than the people who have played and love god of war and TLOU. To each their own, I like both types of games.

NeoGamer2321727d ago (Edited 1727d ago )

Have you played the game?

If not, maybe you shouldn't judge it til you play it yourself. I am skeptical as well. But, I don't know how you can compare a strategy RPG to GoW or TLOU. That is about as apples to oranges as you can get.

I will look at other reviews and play it on GamePass.

Felix_Argyle_Catbro1726d ago

This is one person's opinion. Do you think there is a massive group of people writing reviews for one game? Lol.

I wanted to give 2 a try but was put off by the amount of expansions and content. I'm sure this will be no different over time, but what the reviews are saying is appealing to me.

Putnum1726d ago

I wanted to give 3 a try but was put off by the fact it's not coming to Australia for a pathetic reason.

I'm excited for more CK3 nomad content but I can't help crave something more bold like the Sunset Invasion, Merchant Republics and weather hazards like sandstorms or blizzards

Rise is a good get for me since I didn't trust the riding/fighting with monsters gimmick to be enjoyable. Now I can check it out

Goosejuice346d ago

Rise is a very good game. The monster riding thing is neat and can help quite a bit with breaking parts off.

Einhander1972346d ago

They also added a bunch of games as part of Days of Play

Six PSVr 2 games

Before Your Eyes
Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord - Frozen Empire
Synth Riders
The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners - Chapter 1
The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners - Chapter 2
Walkabout Mini Golf

And three PS2 games

Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus
Star Wars: The Clone Wars
Tomb Raider: Legend

The three PS2 games have full emulation support including save states and and a rewind function as well as full button mapping, 4 different graphical modes and added trophy support.

InUrFoxHole346d ago

Rise is the only one I find interesting but a good list

Shane Kim346d ago

Man, Crusader Kings and Anno are damn epic. You should give them a try.

darthv72346d ago

I am hopeful that with each passing entry of PS1/2 games that get released on +... they will make it so you can use your own discs to download the updated and compatible version for the PS4/5. Like what XB does with its BC games.

bloop345d ago

Ghosthunter!! Wow!! Now there's a blast from the past!! One of those strange games where I remember it so vividly yet can't remember a single thing about it.

I have had my eye on Monster Hunter Rise for a while now, so big win here.

crazyCoconuts346d ago

So PS has quietly added PSVR2 games to Premium!
Seems to go beyond Days of Play.
Good discount on upgrading to premium right now, so I'll bite for the VR titles alone.

Profchaos346d ago

This was well needed as a psvr2 owner looking at psvr2 games to buy it can be a total crapshoot if they bare going to be any good or even work properly sonits nice to see them finally come to PS plus as a way to try a wider variety of games I may not have touched out of worry there was a problem with it

jznrpg346d ago

Some good games in there and some I haven’t played yet

Abnor_Mal346d ago

Glad that Kayak VR is part of premium, now I can try it, not a game that I wanted to buy to be honest.

I just recently bought Monster Hunter Rise, but haven’t started it yet.

What ever happened to premium getting the PS2 game G-Police?

darthv72346d ago

And this is why I like sub services as you dont know if you like something until you try it. Hence, the 'try before you buy' approach is not all bad.

Abnor_Mal346d ago (Edited 346d ago )

I have no intention of buying the game, never did. I do want to see the graphics since that’s what I was hearing being talked about when it first came out.

I get the whole idea of try before you buy, I’m not opposed to that, or Gamepass/subscriptions in general.

But when a large section of a platforms gaming community ops for subscriptions instead of buying their games out right, we see where that leads to with paltry sales on the platform for those same games.

You may be an exception compared to many others who out right say if a game is not on a sub service they will not buy the game. Or since game A is on a sub service then game B or any other game should be on a sub service. That’s when the industry suffers as a whole.

Profchaos346d ago

We got g police about two months ago I've got it loaded on my console now but it was on PS1 I never knew there was a PS2 version

darthv72346d ago

There is no PS2 version of G Police.

Abnor_Mal346d ago

Yea my bad, I said PS2 by accident. I really don’t remember seeing it on offer and only remember seeing people talk about it. Now I’m going to have to check my backlog of plus games.
