Company stresses the importance of exclusive content ahead of PS5.
Hopefully my wallet can keep up with that "acceleration".
We'll be alright. Hopefully the workers can keep up with the assembly line.
If they don't keep up the games don't get finished... Or get finished badly and it shows and affects sales.
"We'll be alright." Ok....I tell my wife you said so, but I'm not sure it will work. Edit: FYI. It didn't work. Ouch....my head.
I think keeping the current ps4 pace and quality is perfect!! I hope we'll see more JRPG this gen from Sony!
Also, "SIE aims to achieve robust revenue growth by accelerating the virtuous cycle that has been established for the PlayStation Platform. This entails increasing active users and play time, enhancing network services and reinforcing content IP so that consumers select PlayStation as their platform of choice. Targeted outcomes include growth in active users, stronger retention and a shorter cash conversion cycle, from which expanded cash flow can be expected. We will explore expanding our first-party titles to the PC platform, in order to promote further growth in our profitability." More games for PC as well. Bravo!
Don’t like this. Good games take time. God of war took almost 5 years to perfect. Ghost and Days Gone would have easily scored 90+ on metacritic if they were given more time. They’ve made enough cash, Sony should start investing in even more studios.
@Unspoken PS5 games going to PC is good news and now it's official that Sony will start doing so more often/quicker. I just hope they take it more seriously than with Horizon. I'm still awaiting for a performance Patch. After almost a month, all they did is release a couples of "crash fix" patches.
""Hopefully my wallet can keep up with that "acceleration"." ; ; ;" It won't ... just like my wallet won't be able to keep up with all of this
Since I began with my online business, I am raking $42.4 every fifteen minutes. And, as unbelievable it sounds, doable for you is, as well, cause I’ve never had a job as easy as this one. Everyone can do it, with no exception. I suggest you, Don’t pass-up this hot chance, which you can do even in your spare time for some extra bonus bucks to your main source of income, because you might regret it afterwards. Anyway, here’s what you have to do to get started …... https://bit.ly/2zPpkEQ
If they can pull off 4 games a year that would be pretty good maybe 5
Lol, thanks for taking one for the team Razzer. Saved me the trouble of asking my wife lol! But, I know what you mean. For me it's going to be a challenge finding the time to play, with my first baby on the way next month. So, I'm actually going to be waiting to buy the PS5. But, I might still buy me the collector's edition of some games I'm interested in, if they ever release them. Especially Ratchet collector's edition would be awesome.
Sounds like this is tied to that talk earlier in the year about shorter games.
The way PS5 is designed should make it easier for developers to finish their games. More games to choose from is always a good thing.
Heck yeah. Sony gets what gamers want. Which is games! Who would have ever thought 💭. Gamers want.... games. Mind blown
Gamers want quality games. I think that needs to be said.
I just wish if Sony can somehow get the rights of MGS from Konami and that's it. I'll be the happiest. P.S also bring back Killzone.
What games? very weak lineup from both companies. The hardware looks decent though Sony could do better.
Considering the novel technology and floated price points, you're speaking nonsense. Build me a PC matching PS5 in power and SSD capability on a $500 budget. I'll allow you to omit the cost of a monitor, operating system, keyboard, mouse, case, and cooling solution. You actually need all of those things, but I'm giving you a headstart for your argument. Good luck.
Were you born yesterday? You do know Sonys history with games right?
@DarXyde You dont have to rebuild your whole pc. Ive seen people buy a 200 dollar budget off the shelf Dell pc throw a graphics card in it and they have a gaming pc as long as it has a proper power supply and you can buy those for 50 bucks this isnt hard, And windows 10 is free you dont have to activate it games run fine you just cant set your wallpaper to what you want who cares about that. And you can buy windows 10 keys all over the net for 5 to 10 bucks. My first Pc i sort of built after years of not being on pc during the 360 and ps3 was a barbones tower from cyberpower pc. I paid for the case, ram, cpu, powersupply and fans, it cost me 380 dollars then i bought a 139 dollar gpu off newegg. And i had a pc that would Ultra bad company 2 on pc at 1080P at 90 fps i dropped consoles ever since. And i still had my disk for windows and code from my old computer
@DarXyde Also AMD and Nvidia got rid of crossfire support because we could use very cheap low end parts to the beat the top end cards in performance. When The witcher 2 came out the top end nvida card couldnt run it faster than 30 fps on ultra with uber sampling i could ultra that game with my cheap crossfire build with dual 4870 cards one i paid 139 for the other i got for 40 dollars because it was a old card by then at 45 fps with uber sampling on.
MS has a lot to prove before I buy in. However, I believe that Demon's Souls remake is miles and miles better than anything I've seen from any other developer for next gen so far. Maybe Cyberpunk would be the exception now that its launching closer to next gen. That said, Cyberpunk, Elden Ring, Demon's Souls, Baldur's Gate 3, and BotW2 are my most anticipated games. Fable could help MS a lot if done well.
Look at the consoles fanboys crying with the disagrees lol. IF your PC has a Pcie slot if you have a good cpu all you need is buy a good gpu and check your power supply and you are pc gaming. Sorry butt hurt console fanboys thats the truth.
lol at anubus Your cheap PC is almost the exact cost of ps5 with tax. Makes sense for a made-up story.
@BlackTar187 And for the last 20 years pc always make consoles look like crap and it will do again the new PC cards are out in September your hardware you are so proud of came out in September 20, 2018 lol.
@BlackTar187 Also you are a noob that dont know what hes talking about console noobs should know their place. You dont know how to build and work on a pc. You are a noob trying to tell me how to work on a car when you know nothing.,
I'm all for more games from Sony. I just hope they don't rush them out.
And you've commented in an article about them accelerating game roll-out, so... Mind you, "rushing out" generally equates to Knack and launch titles. Hopefully their PR BS about PS5 architecture shortening development is all BS. I want genre verity to make a comeback.
Would be great if they brought back Killzone and Socom. Their single player games are cool but those two franchises need to make an appearance I think they have enough talented teams to make it happen
@Livingthedream As long as KZ goes back to KZ2 style mechanics and multiplayer and stop trying to appeal to the COD crowd.
Knack? I didn't have any issues? played smooth with no glitches.
@sampsonon: Missed the point I was making: While they aren't generally well regarded, were both likely rushed releases that could have been "cooked" more, one thing Knack and Knack 2 aren't known for are bugs glitches or slowdown. Unlike certain game series collection that could be mentioned, that years after release is still being patched? Also, meant "Isn't" for "Hopefully their PR BS about PS5 architecture shortening development *ISN'T* all BS." Oops...
Been almost 7 years since killzone that's crazy. Let's not eveb mention socom. GG gladly grownup is a way bigger team hopefully that equal to them working on socom 2020 horizon 2021 and killzone 2023. Horizo. 2025 to close the generation. And a new socom 2026 ps6 and killzone 2027/8 horzon 28/9
Not only are they accelerating roll out of games but during their internal financial calls they have said they will be releasing more 1st party games on pc. Utter disgrace imo won't be rushing to grab a ps5 now if that actually happens
If I had to guess, they will be very delayed releases. Like horizon, coming to pc years later.
They also emphasized the importance of exclusive content to sell the PS5. I think they're trying to balance out getting more revenue from their IPs and maintaining a level of exclusivity to their platform. I expect God of War to be next to move to PC, Barlog has been cheering the PC releases a lot on Twitter. Delayed releases and probably only certain IPs is my thought. But it will be hard to justify to new PC fans why they can't play the newest Horizon even within a year of release. At that point it starts to feel like they're playing games with their audience, so I don't know. This will be interesting to watch because it does devalue the platform every time an exclusive leaves, even if it's only slightly. Maybe the loss in value to the platform is offset by the increase in revenue? We all know it's better to get real money then figurative money.
This is also my assumption. Have the Sony Studios game release on the console and give it 1 to 2 years for initial sales to dry up then reboost sales numbers in a second release wave on PC. With Microsoft moving across PC, TV's and Androids via the Samsung partnership and their own console I guess Sony and their stakeholders want to also capitalise on the expanded market potential. Makes sense from a software sales side. I myself will still get the PS5 because I don't want to potential wait a year or more to play one of their titles but it's good for the singular PC only player base.
I can see them release PS4 games but no way I can see them release PS5 ones.
Yes it does appear that PS4 games released on PC late in the generation. However, leadership can change and once they get a taste of extra money from the PC sector then it could affect future decisions. But besides horizon what other PS4 studio had released their game on PC?
@RgR None that I can think of, but who knows what Sony's plans are moving forward?
Horizon zero down will never see 10mil sales from a pc. Hope Sony sees that.
@Stanjara What does that matter? Selling 10 mill on console and another hundreds of thousand or millions more on PC just booste the copies sold. More money for Sony at the end of the day. I'm sure they don't expect their PC sales to match console sales, only supplement them.
Imagine being mad that your games are being enjoyed by more people.
Having the hard work of these game developers in the hands of a larger player base is great. You'd be hard pressed to find a single developer that says they don't want their work played by more people.
They were talking about games from previous generations, not releasing PS5 games on PC day 1. Rest assured though, if they port PS5 exclusives to PC day 1, I'll switch to PC gaming completely and upgrade the graphics card every 5 years or so.
utter disgrace? they released HZD on PC to drive PS5 sales for pc players who don't want to wait 5+ years to play HZD2 you buffoon I expect the same strategy each time a sequel gets released, port the prequel to PC in order to bait impatient people who want to see the continuation.
This. I don't know if other people are too stupid to understand this or just refuse to because either they crave outrage or they're trying to fear monger lol The PC release of Horizon was oner 3 YEARS after PS4 launch and coincided with the announcement and first look at the sequel, which is PS5 exclusive. It screams, "Here's a sample of our delicious chocolate ice cream you've heard so much about. Tastes good, huh? Here take this large tub to the checkout. Enjoy"! I hope they do it with a couple of other old games from amazing franchises as the sequel is announced, if it ultimately expands the PlayStation install base. Not all of them though, hold some back. Only on PlayStation! You want this, come and get it!
Bye then, are you like 5 years old. You won't buy a console cause the games goto pc after a year or so. How childish, don't bother replying cause it'll just be even more childish and uneducated
if a consoles games end up on another platform theres no need to rush out and get one. but we dont know if its older PS games or day 1 releases
They said they would, and I quote “explore” releasing more first party games to PC. They never said they WILL release more games.
I'd personally wait to see what path they're going to take there, although I generally would prefer a console either way. Nothing against PC, but I know it's not always as fluid no matter how much pc gamers insist it is.
Now I've read more into it they may release previous PlayStation games which I don't agree to anyway but if its xbox style day and date pc release then that a final for me. Besides PC gamers are happy with csgo indiegala fanatical humble bundle and fs2020
More studio acquisitions and more games to PC incoming.
They should they downplay their competition this generation. If Microsoft had awesome and real exclusives, Sony would had released horizon 2 and another Gran Turismo 7.
weren't they just talking about bringing more games to PC?
Translation= Sony plans to destroy MS at an accelerated pace...
I do not mind a faster pace as long as the games do not come out incomplete and are fun to play. Quality over quantity.
Those last three words just exploded Phil Spencer's head.
I worked at Sierra when I was building up the website and starting radio. The company had a reputation for quality games. Then the founders sold and the next two owners were all about units released per quarter vs quality games and the company suffered. Outpost was shipped with content on the box that was not even in the game and took over a year to patch in. Tribes 2 was unstable beyond belief and we were told to ship it regardless as they did not want a delay. So many low-quality things were rushed out just so they had content released that month. Company did not last very long as loyalty only goes so far.
Okay but take the time and care to make it right the first time. We dont need more HZD PC ports that end up not up to fluff.
Nice, I'm absolutely up for more Sony first party games
The console gamer in me is sad Sony is going to start releasing more of their first party games on PC. However the rational part of me is glad now I no longer have to buy a PS5. Going forward I will be able to play Sony's best games on PC. Thank you Sony. They are doing exactly what Microsoft did with the 360 and Xbox One. There were only a few games ported over to PC during the Xbox 360 generation but they opened the floodgates during Xbox One. Now it appears Sony is about to do the same with the PS4 to PS5 transition.
BAHAHAHa what an absolute stealth troll. You're going to have to buy a PS5 to play PS5 exclusive games buddy. Your statement is so ridiculous it made me burst out laughing.
I don't see Sony releasing new games on PC at the same time as on PS as it would negate the need to buy the PS5 (look at how MS's day and date releases have hurt hardware sales) I expect them to focus on porting PS4 games 1st and only port PS5 games 1 to 2yr after the console release in order to maximise the console revenue.
Sony will more likely release some of their first-party titles on PC long after console owners are done playing them, basically 2 to 3 years after release.
I wonder if that means making games less than 20 hours. Honestly that would be fine for me as long as the quality doesnt go down.
Shawn Layden said he wanted fewer games and more time for quality over quantity, I guess Jim Ryan feels otherwise. Their move to PC is a croc though. PlayStation has always wanted to maintain their own identity, this is what Microsoft usually does mimicking the business tactics of others. That's really un-Sony, I disagree with this move.
I hope this doesn't end up as a "Haste makes waste" situation....
They are going for the kill.
