PP: Control's AWE DLC reintroduces the world of Alan Wake, but he is only a very small part of the overall experience. It also adds a new ability, a new service weapon, a new enemy, and it's more of the same Control that you already enjoy. Gamers buying AWE only for Alan Wake may be a little letdown, but it's a good addition to the overall universe and mystery of the Oldest House with the wonderful promise of a very interesting future from Remedy Games.
Sam Lake has confirmed that although they were happy with how Control: AWE went, Alan Wake 2 DLC will not have the same sort of direction.
VGChartz's Lee Mehr: "Previously, I thought The Foundation was a worthwhile, if slightly lacking, expansion compared to Remedy's Alan Wake episodes. Leave it to Alan Wake's "reunion tour" to find that same level of excitement with Control: AWE. True, the final boss fight did tarnish some of my enthusiasm; however, this expansion succeeds so well by honoring both properties without one overwhelming the other. It's a successful melding of psychological & paranormal action elements into one great expansion. As Alan Wake alluded to over a decade ago, I'm excited to chart the depths of this ocean."
COG writes: Control: AWE takes concepts from the previous chapters of the story and heightens them in every way. This is the best written chapter of Control yet
