This game came out of nowhere and did a better presentation of next gen graphics than any of the big names in the industry.
Amazing!
What the hell did Microsoft for 10 years? Gave us a button.

GambleGang1730d ago

They have a studio of 40+ now. Can't wait to see what it turns into!

King_Noctis1730d ago

“ What the hell did Microsoft for 10 years?“

Why not Activision? Take Two? Ubisoft? Blizzard? EA? Bethesda?

Why is MS the only one?

TeamIcoFan1730d ago (Edited 1730d ago )

Because nobody has any expectations from those companies anymore, aside from greed and half assed games.

dumahim1730d ago

Have any of them shown a next-gen exclusive game yet?

Stanjara1730d ago

Those publishers are not making a console and hyping power.
Now Sony didn't shown much eather but at least we got some gameplay footage.

blackblades1730d ago

That's basically what everyone else said "came out of nowhere" wise. I seen it playing in the background on a MBG vid and I was like wth is that. Off not im still waiting on that other Chinese made game thats action I think it was lost souls or something.

Saigon1730d ago (Edited 1730d ago )

that's how i found it as well. I thought it was the monkey king game. I was searching the internet like crazy until I noticed a comment in the MBG video. I kept replaying the video just to watch this game, SMH. then i realized i already had the video prepped to watch in another tab, after the fact, SMH.

dolfa1730d ago

Yea it looks nice however the gameplay looks like a generic fighter. Nothing new.

kevinsheeks1730d ago (Edited 1730d ago )

I think we may be underestimating Microsoft, yeah they sucked this gen but the moves they've been making, on my note 20 ultra I can play their most demanding games on my cellphone full features and everything with my ps4 controller, their xbox game pass is the most tempting thing I've purchased in awhile and easily pays for itself with the content you get.

if they can manage to deliver on games in the next gen they could easily be a force in the gaming industry if they keep up with their cloud and game pass model.

I like this either way hopefully it gets Sony to make the same type of moves so I can play my ps4/ps5 games on my cellphone.

goldwyncq1730d ago

This is exactly the kind of exclusive Xbox needs to have to succeed next gen.

Marquinho1730d ago

5 years. On the other 5 Don Mattrick and friends almost destroyed the brand.

They've rebuilt the brand, made the most powerful console and pulled off GamePass + xCloud. In the meantime they've overhauled/bought/founded new studios already working on next gen titles whose results we will be seeing in the next few years. It takes time in gaming but once they have all pieces together (they're almost there), we shall see a consistent output of quality content from Xbox Game Studios.

As for this particular game, it looks downright astonishing.

ecchiless1730d ago

oh man still blaming mattrick? rly? you know who was the man in charge of microsoft studios?

1730d ago Replies(2)
Imalwaysright1730d ago

And what makes this game even more impressive is that this is being made by an independent studio.

When you consider how much outsourcing of graphical assets goes to China from some pretty big studios, it should come as no surprise that Chinese developers can make something with visuals like this.

1730d ago
Positivelypositive 1730d ago

We just need a petition to ask the devs not to make it a soul-like game.

bananacrust1730d ago

its not soulslike its more god of war than souls

Michiel19891730d ago

The bossfight definetely looked more souls than GoW, but the fight with the group earlier was more GoW like. At the end they show some Dynasty Warriors like gameplay, so it might just be a mix of it. Different forms cover a couple of gamestyles it seems like.

coolfool1730d ago

Did anyone else think that looked really weird? Why do none of the movements look natural?

ChickenOfTheCaveMan1730d ago

The whole thing is a tad weird, it's like when you see a movie that's CG heavy movie but the budget is 15M, even though it looks good you notice cheating in the effects that you rarely see in true blockbusters. Same here, the concept is really cool and who knows how far they are in dev, but that does sound like a small budget game trying hard to play the big budget AAA game, but you can see that the animations of the characters and environment is a bit off.

King_Noctis1730d ago

The devs already addressed that in a post a day after the trailer gone live. This was pre alpha gameplay and they will hire more staff and will make more improvement to the game. This game will come out in 2022 at the earliest, so they have plenty of time.

Mr_Luke1730d ago

As they said, it's from a pre-alpha. It means that it could change a lot, it could be more fluid and more realistic in the end. But i say that even if it stays like this, for me it's a must buy [:D]

The Physical Release Of Black Myth: Wukong Performed So Well It Saved Businesses, Says Publisher

As more and more games go digital-only, Black Myth: Wukong's physical publisher says it performed so well that it saved some businesses.

Good to see physical still doing well!

dantesparda13d ago

So fix the performance on PS5/Pro. With up all that ghosting and dithering, improve the performance!

FPSRUSSIA13d ago

it would of sold even more Physical if it released day one but still Great News.

Yi-Long13d ago

The industry wants to push the narrative that physical is on its way out and gamers prefer digital. Fact is that many gamers simply have less and less options to buy physical, so they’re stuck with either digital, or nothing.

Many gamers still prefer physical, especially for SP games. Games without ‘always online’ or other kinds of anti-consumer DRM.

I hope they’ll release a complete edition (physical) for Wukong once the announced DLC comes out.

OptimusDK13d ago

I totally get it, but dont know if i really matters as most games now do not hold the actual game, or at least a very early version without day one patches.

They are often just a licence to download the actual game. Unfortunately it is not like in the old days, if you just had the game you can play the game no matter what.

Nyxus13d ago

That goes for some games but there are still plenty for which this isn't the case: https://www.doesitplay.org/

jznrpg13d ago

Most games are on disc.

gold_drake13d ago

yeh i hate it too, if they'd give us actual numbers on how much it costs to print themz id be more inclined to beliebe it, but otherwise, nah no way.

kayoss13d ago

I try to buy physical PS5 games when possible. Physical add an extra cost to the developers. However, the fact that digital cost the same as a physical version of the game makes no sense to me. The only games i will buy digital are Nintendo Switch games, those cartridges are small and i lost/misplaced a few already.

senorfartcushion13d ago

Every game that sells well "saves businesses" nowadays - based on how many studios suffer layoffs due to a game not skyrocketing to success, that is.

Popsicle13d ago (Edited 13d ago )

I waited for the physical release to purchase this. If it didn’t get a physical release I had already made up my mind that I was fine skipping it.

I know I am fighting a losing battle because an all digital future is inevitable, but I only purchase physical and will continue doing so.

kayoss13d ago

You will be surprised. Games are getting bigger in size and we all know that console dont provide you with that much hard drive space. I know you can just delete the game from your harddrive to save space and re-install whenever, but me having a physical insure that i can install anytime i want, even if they they take the game off their digital stores.

ravens5212d ago (Edited 12d ago )

Exactly. I do the same. Only digital games I have are from ps+, and I don't consider those owned. As soon as I don't renew, those games are inaccessible.

"it’s a story that I’m sure won’t go away any time soon"
It might if you'd let it

danno_omen50d ago

We don’t control who suddenly decides to bring it up in interviews lol

lukasmain50d ago

It's pure speculation on behalf of the author of this opinion piece and it hold no weight at all.

InUrFoxHole49d ago

@lukasmain
Im curious how you can make that comment when he specifically mentions Blackmyth? No weight at all? Either...
A. You can't read
B. You're letting blind loyalty take point
C. You just didn't read it
D. You're trolling

pwnmaster300050d ago

There really wasn’t no suggestion.
Just pure speculation as usual.

Lightning7749d ago

It's in the interview. He said it.

lukasmain49d ago

He never suggested a special exclusivity deal. Far from it. The author is just speculating.

Lightning7749d ago (Edited 49d ago )

@Main I quoted Rosenberg at the bottom he said it himself on the interview that him and guys go out and find hidden gems. This interview wouldn't mean much but Black Myth was supposed to release simultaneously along with the Xbox version unfortunately, it didn't. Got taken off and GS said it was the S. MS said there was a deal in place. If he's going out and finding niche or "hidden gems" BMW should of released only on PS5 since its considered a hidden gem that could only be played on PS console just like the rest of the other games he mentioned. The game was announced awhile ago as a multiplat. The S of late has been holding its own with third party and 1st party games. It's also clear that the S did have issues for awhile also and maybe GS really can't optimize for the console. I'm just exploring every possibility.

Hmm, I dunno at the end of the day. The S has been performing well optimization wise lately. I dunno it's hard to tell anymore what's, what.

-Foxtrot50d ago (Edited 50d ago )

There is no way in high hell Sony would pay money for this, something so successful and not advertise it as an exclusive console game. There's just no way, they've done it for everything else, why would they not do it for this.

It's people who can't let a story go, there's no deal, they just probably supported a new Chinese studio with their China Hero Project and give them tools to help develop on their console. If Microsoft came along and offered them the same tools early on for their console I'm sure Sony wouldn't bat an eyelid.

Sony took a chance on a new studio early on and they benefitted from it, that's their reward.

….. for the world’s most boring game

And we would’ve getaway with it if it wasn’t for those pesky kids games.
Congrats to NT on their 11 nominations I wish them good luck 👍👍

Beautiful game, love the series, and the character!

Well crafter and well done.

Toecutter0074d ago

Good. The game is unique, heartfelt, and beautiful. Yes, the mechanics are rather simplistic. But the teams dedication to storytelling is on full display. It's definitely not for everyone, but it won't disappoint those who appreciate video games that push the boundaries of the medium.

Alos8874d ago

More like pushes the boundary of how short a game can be while still charging fifty quid

InUrFoxHole74d ago

Love the game. Beautiful looking, game play was solid and it didn't over stay it's welcome.

PrinceOfAnger74d ago

Good game with the best graphics and animation I've seen this gen. They need to focus more on the gameplay though if there is HB3.
