Game Rant: The Outer Worlds shows that Obsidian needs to take one page out of Bethesda's book before taking on Skyrim with its upcoming fantasy RPG Avowed.
The story in fallout 4 is garbage. Obsidian made the only fallout with a decent story since fallout 3, new vegas, so they'll be fine. The only reason the outer worlds even exists is because Bethesda couldn't figure out how to make a good fallout sequel.
i don't think obsidian needs any advice to be honest going off of new vegas and outer worlds
The last thing I want is Obsidian taking advice from modern day Bethesda.
"Replayability" isn't something I need in an RPG. Blank slate RPG games never give me the same feeling as something with more direct and focused writing. Let Obsidian make the games they make best. The Outer Worlds was great because it didn't free flow and hope you found the story, it built a story with great characters and let you be a part of it.
The main hook of dragons and shouts are locked behind story you are forced to complete if you want to unlock them. If you want to ignore the story you end up fighting wolves at dragon altars and can’t farm materials to craft high end dragon weapons and armor. So screw that noise of being like Bethesda. “”In Skyrim, the story doesn't prioritize the main quest until the player slays their first dragon and absorbs its soul. This gives players who don’t want to play Skyrim's main quest - or want to roleplay more before doing it - an easy out to go and explore the world of Skyrim without it feeling like they are ignoring the coming apocalypse.””
I wouldn't take anything from bethesda book, you'd end up with 16X the detail, bugs, glitches, last gen gfx and performance issues and rinse your consumer of in game purchases like £100 for a house
