According to a report released today by the National Institute on Media and the Family, the video game industry has done an excellent job in keeping games out of the reach of children. However, the same cannot be said for parents on their end.
The institute's 13th Annual MediaWise® Video Game Report Card talked about the increasing occurrences of family gaming, and the ESRB's wonderful ratings system. Literally, an "A" was awarded to the ESRB for the excellent job in informing the public and working to keep inappropriate content away from younger gamers. Notably, a literal "incomplete" was given "for parental involvement as too many parents are not using information like game ratings, parental controls and screen time limits provided by retailers and console makers."
The article discusses a claim by an intellectual property (IP) expert that Nintendo likely does not hold patents strong enough to prevent the game developer Pocketpair from creating Palworld, a game that some believe resembles Pokémon. The expert suggests that Nintendo's legal challenges against Palworld could amount to nothing more than corporate bullying, as the patents Nintendo might be relying on are not robust enough to stand up to legal scrutiny. The situation could be seen as an example of a large corporation trying to exert undue influence over a smaller competitor.
Crazy how far they are willing to go over nothing rather than tell Game Freak to get their shit together and sort the quality of the mainline games out.
Personally I'd drop the two game bullshit, make a full on complete game, and take their time making the best game they can without relying on a silly battle gimmick they'll ditch after one game. Gimmicks out of battle is what they should be focusing on, beauty contests, berry making, secret bases, the underground, Seasons, events during day / night and post game content like travelling to a new location or something.
It's straight up bullying with mooney and using the government laws as a tool to do so. They should be fined.
Where does the time go?

We asked MS, why are you so amazing and how do you come up with the ideas for creating such titles as Call of Duty and Elder Scrolls?
There was news two weeks ago about Hillary Clinton publicly supporting supplemental game descriptions to game ratings. Basically a short blurb specifically related to the game, describing what it was about, to give parents a clue.
Again, this takes active parents who actually care, which this report seems to conclude is the larger issue. But anytime government or groups can make it easier for parents to use sound judgment is beneficial in my book.
i wish this would get posted on billboards and tv ads and anywhere else it would get noticed. the game companies stepped up long ago with ratings but parents that are too stupid to even raise children are the problem. half the world doesnt deserve the right of having children. this is why ppl are getting stupider everyday.
