The Last of Us Part 2 Update To Reportedly Add Permadeath and Grounded Mode

The Last of Us Part 2 is reportedly getting an update that will add permadeath mode and a new Grounded difficulty setting as seen in the leaked trophy list.

Haha, for real. That'd atleast be something. Ground mode on TLoU Remastered already had me ticked off BEYOND compare, but was also a welcoming challenge, which had me hating Naughty Dog at the same time. Wait...does that even make sense? Lol. I think it does. Either way, I completed the game, felt proud, and yeah. But "Permadeath" No way, no how. Things won't end well for my PS4 or for me lol.

Although, i'd make for some great YT reaction content haha. Good Luck to any & all who're brave & good enough to battle those deadly, utterly, brutal, unforgiving waters with this game!

Grounded was the best difficulty setting for the first game. Much more challenging and my favourite playthrough.

Gave up playing this thing just before half of the playthrough.. I'll maybe go back to it if the multiplayer is as good as the first one

The fight against Ellie alone would just be annoying having to reload a save before hand. Didn't die much in most of the game, but that fight I was ready to throw my controller through the TV.

Gonna play this on proper PS5 hardware. Now the hard part in the game is Abby getting stuck inside the house as the two Asian GIRLs escape. That will be hard as it requires lots of ammo saved up.

Absolutely. That was the most challenging part for me. Especially since one wrong move gets you dead.

Yup. I did not go through with that, though. Too much of a pain in the butt - I recently just booted up 3D Dot Game Heroes after 9 years thinking I was going to try to finally get that plat, and just having to play through without dying was enough for me to say, "screw it, I don't have the patience anymore."

It might be a reason for me to get on that game again. But I normally play catiiusly careful not to spend to many resources in any encounter. This more looks to force me to use anything and everything I have at my disposal in order to survive.

I did 2 playthroughs and got the platinum.
Probably wait for the ps5 version to try the grounded mode.
I'm curious about the multiplayer though.

I remember when Max Payne 3 added this game mode (permadeath) and man it angered me, I was going to try to platinum the game until I realized I had to beat the whole game without dying because it didn't save on that difficulty LOL.

Did you tried Akumu mode on the original Evil Within? I rightly recommend, i did Zealot too and i can say they both felt equally satisfying.

Jaces, although it's the unpopular opinion, I agree with you. As soon as I finished the game, I deleted it from my hard drive & gave it to my friend and told him to keep it. I absolutely hated the story, pacing & direction. Neil Druckmann is a first class, grade A $h!t, whose dragging the ever popular Troy Baker on the journey to unpopularity by smearing & besmirching gamers, insinuating they are racist, homophobes if they dare to have the temerity to criticise their narrative.

Before anyone chips in, with I'm an x player slave nonsense, I only have a PlayStation pro and my favourite games of all time are Uncharted 2, Last of Us 1, Spider-Man and my current best of the bunch, the absolutely awesome Ghost Of Tsushima.
