Didn't they only just show this yesterday?

Vits1778d ago

Xbox One and PS4 cancelled.
Xbox Series X and PS5 confirmed.

Razmiran1777d ago

And switch version is still on

NotoriousWhiz1777d ago

This is the problem with "journalists". Why did they feel the need to leave out the series X / PS5 from the title / description?

anonymousfan1778d ago

This is weird I mean it didnt look particularly demanding graphically and given the install base on PS4 and XBO its a weird move.

NovusTerminus1777d ago

Likely a logistical issue, be it coding or publishing they might just not have the man power to do it all.

anonymousfan1777d ago

That makes sense. Its still coming to the Switch so definitely not about power.

Godmars2901777d ago

Not to mention network/server support.

Imortus_san1777d ago

The Xbox One games work on Xbox Series so they would have zero extra work.

Teflon021776d ago

Imortus
On PS5 and XSX it would word but it requires more work. They'd have to still make sure no issues across PS4, PS4 Pro and if some issues with ps5 they'll have to fix that as well. That's essentially twice the development. While exactly the same on Xbox. Also noting it as a PS5 and XSX title will gain more interest by the time it drops. So it's just easier, plus development doesn't require as much work. It's a win win for them. For the ppl who wanted but wasn't getting next gen right away. It's not great for though

oasdada1776d ago (Edited 1776d ago )

Yeah but a weird decision because if they scrapped the ps5/series X version and made the ps4/xb1 version wouldnt be able work automatically as a backwards compatible game on the nextgen machines? For me the more logical patth would've been to scrap the nextgen versions

NovusTerminus1776d ago (Edited 1776d ago )

@BayAreaBird

No I did not, so I went in and read it... It's a logistical issue where they do not have the man power to meet all the demand and deadlines... As I previously stated...

@godmars above
you probably have the real reason they cancelled them, they would be shutting down the servers for those consoles shortly (most likely)

Skuletor1776d ago

Highly unlikely, aren't the PS3 servers still going? Not sure about the 360 side

Teflon021776d ago

I can confirm PS3 runs on PSN without issue. I mean, the store on it is slow. But that's about it. Games like CoD still run and alot of p2p games are playable if the audience is there

JEECE1776d ago

Lol the "prior gen install base" argument. I've missed that old chestnut. I love forward to seeing it a lot the next year and a half.

sprinterboy1776d ago

I guess making the game run properly on ps4/pro/xbox one/S/SAD and one x/series X would be too much work.

Edgelordsupreme1776d ago

You do realize there isn't special work required for games to run on the One S or SAD right?

MadLad1777d ago

I get thinking about the future, but you'd assume they would want to cater to the large demographic who already own current gen consoles.

mania5681777d ago

they dont have the manpower to have all these versions going with all the bug fixing they keep doing after each update, at that time they have the game finished most people will be already on next gen consoles

Bathyj1776d ago

People don't understand making games is work just like doi6ng holes or building houses. It takes time money and effort. More platforms is more effort.

rainslacker1776d ago

Even if they have the manpower, it still cost money to push an update through the consoles certification process. You get two free certifications with every license on xbox and ps. Not sure about nintendo. After that, you pay a specific amount depending in which license you released the game under and what kind of update its classified as(basic for bug fixes, or not basic for added content releases). There are other categories as well depending on the console.

As older consoles move out of the market, continuing to support them in such a way can be a loss situation for games that may not be big releases.

yeahokwhatever1776d ago

when you're a small studio, you need to think of ways to more effectively market your product. being part of a launch window of a new system will result in more attention, for free.

Razmiran1777d ago

This is weird, especially since its still coming to the switch
