Fans vs Creators: The Problem of Fan Backlash

Are we becoming too protective of works of art that we love and have followed for years? Recently, fans have become more vocal in their disagreements with creators when a movie franchise, a tv-show or a video game, goes in a direction they don't approve of.

I love that this is being addressed. We, as humans, are creatures of habit, but we need to be open to the artistic vision of the creator too. Great topic!

I'm glad you shared this as I was going to comment that I'm not clicking since the preview summary above wasn't worded well. A little weird use of a comma and ending a sentence with "of" led me to assume this was another college drop out without a degree failing at writing.

Although the out of place commas continued and the popular one line paragraphs were present, I actually liked the effort. It could have still used an editor and a HS teacher would have bloodied it up. I was surprised it was the best long form true type article I've seen in awhile outside of Eurogamer Sunday stories.

Hell ya we are. And developers who don't/can't stick to their guns or original vision put out soulless games as a consequence.
