The Nintendo Switch is on track to surpass the Nintendo Wii in lifetime sales. 101.63 million – that is the total number of Nintendo Wii consoles sold since the system’s release in 2006. Yes, that is an insane amount of units that the big N was able to move. What is even more astounding is the number of Nintendo Switches that have sold to date. The Switch is currently sitting in the #3 spot for lifetime overall Nintendo console sales and is on its way to surpassing the Wii.
2025 cloud gaming trends are looking good, but it’s not all smooth yet. We break down what’s working, what’s not, and what comes next.
As someone who has been gaming nearly as long as gaming has been around (since the early 70's), you'd think I'd be against this. Having grown up with all the major platforms and the whole notion of physical ownership... but I'm not. i embrace this as it is a revolutionary convenience. And one i know for a fact many (especially here) have not even given the fair chance to use. I get it... i was there too. But now i have a new outlook on it. It really is a hell of an option if you just want to play with no commitments. By no means am i saying this should replace traditional gaming, its an option. And one that people should look at optimistically as a way to compliment traditional gaming. There is room for both to thrive.
I tend to use streaming on new games in GamePass. To see if I like the game. If I do, I'll download it for a better experience. It's so convenient & useful.
Blacknut has announced a brand new partnership with Kalypso Media. This will see Kalypso's gaming portfolio arrive on Blacknut.
The partnership will take hold from June 27th with the arrival of a selection of Klaypos Media titles onto the Blacknut cloud gaming platform.
The cuts are expected to be announced next week.
Microsoft is also planning thousands of job cuts that will impact other parts of it businesses
MFs has been beating their chests over great quarterly results and big profits to shareholders while firing people by the thousands just like Sony.
I wonder if at the top of those rumored layoffs they´ll also cancel upcoming or unannounced games while shutting down more studios as well.
These comparisons are always dangerous. The Switch has everything to overcome the 3DS + Wii U combination (if you haven't already).
But directly comparing the Wii U to the Switch is wrong. It replaces all the company's devices.
Nintendo’s only systems that outsold their predecessors are DS, Wii & Switch
Sega’s only system that outsold it’s predecessor is the Genesis
Sony’s only systems that outsold their predecessors are PS2 & PS4
Microsoft’s only system that outsold its predecessor is the Xbox 360
Guess you forgot Virtual Boy existed. Nintendo 64 sold more than Virtual Boy.
The Gameboy sold more than the Game & Watch line of handhelds. As did the NES when compared to the Color TV-Game Series. Game & Watch was Nintendo's first handheld and the Color TV-Game Series was it's first home console. Both of Nintendo's follow ups to those performed way better.
