Assassin's Creed Valhalla Will Have A Free PS4 To PS5 Upgrade

Ubisoft has confirmed that Assassin's Creed Valhalla will have a free PS4 to PS5 upgrade for those that have already purchased the game on current-gen.

The story is too old to be commented.

I like that thumbnail. Very moody.

2k should learn from this

Wait . You mean smart delivery is just a buzz word ?

Chevalier72d ago

Yeah apparently Xbox fans seem to think cross buy which has been with Playstation since PS3 is 'new' and 'innovative'. As if Ubisoft would ignore their biggest group of buyers.

yes but its more than just a simple cross gen transition. Because the sx dev kit is also the one s and x dev kit. it allows the game to be played across the gens as well. its cross save too essentially but takes the dev work out of it because its essentially just one developed title with the game being "smart" delivered to the console based on what console it is and enables the extra graphical effects and things like that based on however smart delivery identifies what console the game is on. Thats why the os is going to be the same on the one and the sx. smart delivery just allows the same game to know its on an sx and not a one x

You do realise that is nothing special. Here is how it will work. You play the PS4 version, your save is in the cloud, the PS5 version is released, you install the PS5 version, download your save from the cloud and continue. The game save is a game save, just information for the game to read and seeing as Sony will probably make the filing system the same as PS4( I’m talking technically, not visually) you can probably just carry on. Even more, if the games saves to Ubisoft servers then that’s even easier.
I’m assuming Sony aren’t going on about this as it’s an expected feature for next gen and they are more inclined to announce features that will be new.

Isn't it a smart marketing tool for Xbox?

It’s awesome ty hey are leading the charge in trying to give gamers a better value. I’m all for buzzwords if they save me time and money. You know someone is gonna try to charge you for an upgrade

Smart Delivery is propaganda to attract consumers. Many games from current-gen will be running on next-gen out its in the hand of the developer to give it an upgrade yet Microsoft promote it as a something new.

Yodasfavoritesoda72d ago

What’s wrong with doing something pro consumer to attract business. Remember this gen Sony did the whole this is how we share our games thing when they had the same plan in place to charge a fee for used games

Games1st72d ago (Edited 72d ago )

Microsoft probably helped with it, when Sony has said/done nothing about features.

are you saying a patch is a feature?

I commented a few weeks ago that Microsoft loves turning things into bulletpoints, no matter how common the thing is. Tv was a bulletpoint, Kinect was a bulletpoint, Always online was a bulletpoint (that blew up in their faces) Gamepass is a bulletpoint, almost forgot about the all new “live anywhere” where they had PC players on Xbox live playing the same game vs Xbox live gamers on console (Crossplay) BUT the pc player had to have a Xbox live account. Man people raised hell about that one. Make it sound new and give it a title when PS2 players were playing with PC players on Everquest and FF11 (also crossplay). Gotta love the buzzwords.
