From Nintendo Life: "Game director and writer Hidetaka Suehiro, known as Swery, has commented on Deadly Premonition 2's frame rate situation in a live stream. Here's what he had to say, via a translator:
"There will not be a patch released in time for the release date, but Swery's going to take everyone's opinions and points into account, and he's going to fight with the producer to get something done at some point after the game's release".
This week on COG Considers, we tackle one of the most tired and unpleasant tropes in horror games: why games--and every other pop culture avenue--are so determined to paint people with Dissociative Identity Disorder as murderers.
Are they? You are fixed on Japanese games that are anime based/fashioned. Perhaps if you were not playing games that are similar to the animes that inspired them you would have more/different experiences.
When Cliche and Troupes are the building blocks, you can’t expect much. Just like you cannot expect good case study when the tester/observer has practically no variance in test subjects.
Sooooo many horror games out there... you really gotta explore some more.
This month’s EDGE review scores include Paper Mario: The Origami King, Deadly Premonition 2, and more.
Paper Mario: The Origami King – 8
Really Edge? I've seen you call better games out for the smallest things
Edge is one of the very few reviers that I trust, they don't give away high scores cause why not. They are strict with their grades and hence why I trust them.
Another patch for Deadly Premonition 2 went live today, and the game is now at version 1.0.3.
Huge fan of the first game but considering all of the technical flaws it had it's absolutely ridiculous that the sequel was even released with this many issues. To add insult to injury they weren't even planning on making a patch until there was backlash.
It must have been made on PC or PS4 and ported to Switch. They shouldn't have made an exclusivity deal if they couldn't even get it to run. Clearly they just took the money.
This series doesn't even have any ties to Nintendo. Why did they even bother doing a switch port? And now he has to "fight" with producers for a patch?
It is honestly a little disrespectful to the fans that he would release the game this way after all the problems with the first game that had to be ignored. Why wouldn't he go out of his way to make sure this game had better performance?
Why would they develop the game mainly for Switch if the final result gonna end up like this holding the game back
WTF are they thinking .. the first game was horribly optimized and they further make that mistake on this game too
Just bought it lol gonna start it now and see how bad it is. I managed to beat the first one on PS3 where the frame rate was hell, and again on Switch where the frame rate was slightly less hell, and again on PC where the frame rate was solid but it was locked to 720p lmao
Long story short, im going in with extremely low expectations regarding performance but the first game is such a masterpiece that its worth it.
Imma definitely heed these warnings though. Hopefully overclocking the Switch helps it a bit but if not then whatever ill tough the bad frame rate out
I wish every console dev would fight to have their games run at 60fps and above instead of 30.
