From the article:
"What makes you buy videogames? I don't mean overall, but the individual games available for your system of choice. Are reviews all-important? Or does price, series history, or developer notoriety make you reach in your pocket and buy a PS3, Xbox 360, or Wii game?
A recent article on The Koalition talking about how important reviews are to purchasing decisions made me start thinking about why I buy games. And I was immediately interested in what the readers of Blorge think about the subject as well. Yes, I actually care what you all think, and read your comments… even the nasty ones.
Reviews are clearly important to purchasing decisions, whether that's right or wrong. If you trust a particular source for gaming news and views, you are likely to listen to what they say about a game. If they say it's rubbish, then you're likely to steer clear, while a positive review is likely to persuade you to part with your hard-earned.
But the chances are you'd have made your mind up well in advance of any review appearing either on the Internet or in a magazine. If you've followed a game's development from the start, and either been intrigued by the style, genre, or plot, you're likely to harbor a want for it regardless. In that case, a good review is likely to just reinforce your viewpoint, while a bad one can be ignored."
The Epic Games Store continues to dish out free games and you can add two more to your library this week.
Some Helldivers 2 players are frustrated with some content still being broken, so read this article to see what that is all about.
Some?? Try all. Mechs are bugged, many weapons are useless including the newly renewed ones, stratagems are bugged or weak, we still get stuck in the terrain with no way out, and the list goes on. Good game but they need to fix the issues before doing anything else.
Activision and Raven Software's 2006 action role-playing game, Marvel: Ultimate Alliance, has found its way to the Xbox Store.
Used to love this one, but X-Men Legends 1 and 2 will always be my favorites, especially Rise of Apocalypse. Would pay some good money to play it today with online multiplayer, back then I had no way to get a modem
I remember buying them dirt cheap on the PS4 and then a few days later I read they were delisted. I was wondering why the bundle was price so low and got my answer when that happened.
Sad to say this is one game franchise next to the Xmen that needs a sequel. I use to play the hell out of Xmen Legends and Marvel Ultimate Alliance. Was great when my cousin had the OG Xbox play with four other people and then playing online. Great games glad to see it reappear even though I own the discs love the mechanics of this game.
Misleading. This page is whats available for people who owned the game prior to delisting.
could care less about reviews. I buy, or play a game base on my own judgment of what I seen of a game, or if I played a demo of that game. Also studio that makes games also influence my purchase of a game base on their track record, and if I like their style of games. I play or buy a game if it introduce something new, and introduce new ideas, and ways to play games.
I am not a hypocrite. I read/watch game previews and reviews. They are important, but they do not ultimately determine my decision to buy a game.
Demos, Betas, Referrals, and actual gameplay clips help a lot.
i like lots of game that got low scores like lair ,heavenly sword and blue dragon.
i also didnt enjoy some of the high score games like gears, gta and halo.
it really is ur own taste in games and the only thing that matter is ur opinion.
because reviews are just another gamers opinion of the game.
and some reviewers are really biased, especially towards the ps3
somewhat. Personally, when I find a game that interests me, I will keep an eye on reviews from sites that have reviewers that seem to share my tastes in games. I typically stick with IGN even though that site has become a royal pain. I don't agree with everything but it is good to have some ones opinion before dropping $60 on a game. In the last year, I only didn't buy 1 game because of the reviews... Haze.
I could never understand the hatred of Heavenly Sword, one of my favorite games so far this generation. I don't see the attraction to games like GTA, Mario, Zelda. I've tried different iterations of these series only to be disappointed.
They are just someones opinion.
They could be from someone who may or may not be biased or from someone who has completely different tastes.
An example: So and so reviewer loves FPS's, can't see the value of Pixeljunk Eden or LBP, gives it a terrible score because HE/SHE simply couldn't get into it. See where I'm going here?
Reviews are useless and so is Metacritic.
If I see a game that I might be interested in I'll download a demo.
If there is no demo, then I'll rent it and be my own critic.
