Control was one of 2019’s best games but the title ended poorly. With a lot of questions left unanswered, The Foundation adds more to the pile but also provides context into certain mysteries. With Jesse heading below The Oldest House into a new area unknown to most and discovering that The Board may have some hidden intents.
XBA says: Welcome back to the FBC Director.
VGChartz's Lee Mehr: "Remedy haven't made an attempt at expansions since the Alan Wake DLC episodes. Although Control: The Foundation doesn't reach the same height as those, their creative muscles haven't atrophied. The tweaks & updates to the game's design are worthwhile and subtly intertwined with the game proper, despite some concepts not sticking the landing. The bedrock is structurally sound, but the end result is satisfactory instead of outstanding."
Ryan writes: "Control’s first DLC release “The Foundation” finally makes its way to Xbox One, thereby ending its three-month exclusivity on PC and PS4. The Foundation takes place immediately following the conclusion of Control’s base game, and needs a completed save to start."
“Ended poorly” is an understatement. Control ended like a fart in the wind.
